RPG Maker MV on Ubuntu 18.04

Hi All,

This would be my first post on this forum, I hope I am not posting on the wrong board.

So.. I have been working on this game for 4 months on my Windows 10 machine without any issues. Recently I installed Ubuntu 18.04 on my laptop, and wanted to set it up for the RMMV 1.6.2. Set-up was pretty straightforward. But when I ran the game I started to run into so many troubles.

First I was getting Invalid State Error where it was sayin:
"Failed to execute 'drawImage' on 'CanvasRenderingContext2D': The HTMLImageElement provided is in the 'broken' state."
I went trough the console logs, and realized that the engine was looking for an image:
Loading.png
But in my img/system folder image was named:
loading.png
(small letter L). Okay, so I changed all system images to begin with capital letter, and got rid of that issue.

Now I am running into the same issue with all other images and audio files. Same naming convention. All of the files in the game are named with all small letters, but the engine for some reason is looking for files with first capital letter. Here is one example:

This might be resolved by changing names of al the files, but then issue would be on Windows and there are so many files that I don't even want to start doing that. Stuck here!

The same files, same game and same RMMV version works perfectly on Windows 10 thou. If you guys need more information, please let me know.

Have any of you ran into same/similiar issue ?

I think this should actually be in MV Support, the editor is running fine but the issues are coming up in the game itself.


For the example of the loading image, this is the code where it loads the image:

Graphics.setLoadingImage('img/system/Loading.png');
Notice it is looking for "Loading.png" with a capital "L". If you have a file named "loading.png", it doesn't matter because it's looking for "Loading.png" and those are different names. Only Windows has an override to treat those as the same name.

Same thing for the event character images, if it's looking for "$Golem.png" it won't find a file named "$golem.png" because those are different names. You can see which name it is trying to load in the MapXXX.json file.

Even if you only develop the game on Windows, you still need to fix this because your game won't work if you deploy to Linux, Mac, iPhone, Android, or web browser unless the files are named correctly.

I found the MapXXX.json file, and started renaming files one by one. Game works now.

I understood what was happening, I just didn't know why. So this is a Windows thing.
Why would Windows do this and treat those files as same, this is a serious issue.
