There are already so many scifi and fantasy games out there.

Surely there are bigger number of fantasy games lying around compared to scifi games, and surely games market are over-saturated bu them. But still, that doesn't mean there are not a lot of scifi games out there, and heck, it is over-saturating the market as well!!

What about rpgmaker games? Yea. I haven't seen many scifi games here. So for those of you guys who want more scifi stuffs in rpgmaker, I am with you!

I don't know why, but most people in rpgmaker industry will think of "fantasy" when they make "rpg"......which is good. That only means that rpgmaker games market can not (and will not) get over-saturated by us making scifi games, EVER. Right? :D

My current game is SciFi  :p

Also I believe one of the reasons for so many fantasy games is the RTP, it can really only be used for Fantasy/Visual Novel.

Really though, I can recall there always being a strong presence of scifi in the RPGmaker community, even back in 2k/2k3 days. I feel like "modern" has a much weaker showing. (though that's starting to come around)

What we REALLY need up in here are some more Spaghetti Westerns, man. o3o

(disclaimer: I know nothing about spaghetti westerns)

I also vouch for more Steampunk and Cyberpunk.

Steampunk I can wait for though, since the Lunarea/Celianna combo tileset is pretty amazing. However some faces and chars to match it would be nice.

lol - when did this turn into a theme vote thread?
There's no competition, really. The best setting is one that finely blends all of them together.

So we are voting now?  I vote Sci-fi over Fantasy as well!

Either way, I'm looking forward to getting my copy!

I'm actually making a Western themed game when MV drops.

Just a shame that that aesthetic gets so little love from resource creators :p

I plan to move my current projects over to MV... every maker i use.. i run up against a wall for one reason or another, and i end up taking big breaks from my projects... i'm hoping i won't run up against any walls in MV.

Just don't transfer so much that you have a dozen unfinished projects.  Might be better to pick the one you're most interested in, transfer it and work on it a bit, so you can get familiar with the changes in MV.  Get it as close to completion as you can before you think about transferring another.

ATM there's only a conversion script for Ace, and that will still require a LOT of effort to get graphics and scripts working.  Any other engine, you'd also have to do all the maps, events, and database manually.  That's a LOT of work, to get no closer to completing any of them than you are now.

Little steps :)

I won't need the conversion tool...

When i say i am moving over.. i more or less mean take an existing project and start over with it in MV.

I never got far anyhow.

All i managed was a few technical things, some graphics.. some visuals.. some music...

No real story or even eventing.

Just a couple maps.. some music.. some graphics some audio and some battle tests.. i never get much further.

Ran into a wall with Ace because of the hidden classes issue.. so that's why i am hopeful with MV.. no hidden classes.

the funny fact is even with all the gift we will receive they will have people who will complain sayings stuffs likes : "don't have any ressouces" MEEHHHHHH don't have script for it !!!!!

or they will have Pro ruby who will say : RUBY WAS BETTER! JS SUCK!

the engine lacks of stuff

that's was the same thing's in Ace :/ you had always people who was sayings in a ways rpg maker sucks...and I am like : why you  use it '3'
I SHALL TURN THE TIDES OF THESE IRRATIONAL COMPLAINERS, WITH THIS!!!

RMMV!!!!! You CAN make ACTUAL games with it!!!

(my words will make them see their folly!!)

I look forward to seeing how the passibiltiy of tiles works in MV, and if required, porting my passibility script over, to MV plugin form, based on whether some things were implemented like being able to define ground vehicless that travel on land rather than water, or air vehicles that are unable to pass over certain terrains.

I've been wanting to make a bunch of resources for RPG Maker for a long time now...it would be so awesome to make a character pack or something. But I don't think I'm good enough for that yet, and it would take so much time away from using RPG Maker...!

Anyway, saw some other screenshots on another site, turns out they were from the Steam page, pretty sure it's okay to share those here?

Here's a screenshot from the trailer:

Actor1

Actor2

Actor3

Evil

Monster

Nature

People1

People2

People3

People4

Compared to VX, the main difference is Nature instead of Spiritual (Elemental girls, Fairy, Angel, God, Goddess) I assume Nature is animals? I spotted a chicken and horse portrait in the trailer.

(of course VX Ace has Actor4 and Actor5, but it's character generator leaves a lot to be desired)

A Steam screenshot.

I assume this is Actor1 and Actor3, and Monster. That pink dress warrior girl with a bardiche is awesome.

Another Steam screenshot.

Showing off a Plug-in to change the menu. I think I like it. Could easily put them closer together to have a 5 person party, don't you think?

I also checked the Steam page for the Cover Art Characters Pack, it has a little description, but...

Features

  • 8 main party characters, complete with walking and damage animations.
  • 8 matching portraits (waist-up) and facesets, cropped and formatted for your convenience.
  • 8 animated side-view battlers.
  • 8 unique character music themes, in OGG and M4a format.
  • BONUS: 8 support NPC characters, complete with a walking sprite, damage sprite, portraits and facesets.

That last Bonus...so that means the Fairy, the floating robot, the fruit lady, the merchant guy, the necromancer girl, and the three royal people are meant to be NPCs...and that means no side-view battlers. Sad panda.

(Well that gives me more reason to make a game with the 1st person battle system I guess...)

The necromancer is probably my favourite character - along with the bearded knight- a shame she wont have a battler. :(

There's a couple good ones, take this as my personal recommendation.

Don't worry. All that is missing battlers, faces, etc, will probably have a purchasable pack later on.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
time for a new avatar :)
