Despite creating very little with VX Ace and I am super excited about MV and will definitely preorder soon.

Can't have all this time learning Javascript go to waste.

You can probably script resolution changing to options menu now as it seems that resolution is no longer capped. It seems that they built engine from ground up due the old ones were programmed pretty limited way. Well there must be other reasons too like portability but still.

And not all don't...

Shame on attractive woman? Shame on me for liking attractive woman?

Also, I see unrealistic men in entertainment geared for woman all the time.

Yay for double standards I guess?
I have been wondering this myself. Why big breasts are considered attractive? Why men's behind is attractive to the point that men pose with their back instead of front?

I belong to this "less than percent" human population who doesn't get "attracted" to body parts.

Anyway I kind of know the answer, "It just is."

They say bigger breasts means that woman has better capabilities of raising a child...

Seems like all parts of the game are made on JS files and are accessible

I may be late to the previous topic on hand, but I want Hayatemaru to be female as well... of course I can just say she is and all said and done.

Besides, had the question be answered if Ernest is a boy or a girl? (jk jk jk)

As a whole, though, I will say I am most excited about the cover character pack. MV by far has my favorite cover characters.

Ask Archeia.

My answer is this: they are cookie cutter character with a background that can be defined as create your own. That's why it's called RPG Maker, Guess-the-gender-game Maker although you could make a Guess-the-gender-game. As they are by default, they don't have naked sprites so we can't check. Only a few RTP sprites have visible breasts.

Okay, what does gender have to do with discussing a product? Today's almost over which means one less day to wait.

I'd just like to say that you can see Hayatemaru's chest in one of the artworks. I don't think Enterbrain would have designed him in such a way if he was female >_>

Got to agree with Shaz. As much as I am entertained by this topic it really has derailed quite a bit. I am sure the moderators will not mind if you start a random thread somewhere on the forums as long as it follows the rules of the forum itself and stays mostly appropriate.

Saying that on topic I have a question about the coding API. Will there be a spot on the website or an document where I can read the API to everything within the engine so I can start understanding the ins and outs of the engine. I am mainly coming from the Unity engine where they have a nice scripting API document. I was wanting to read the API documents so I can start getting a good idea for writing plugins in MV.

I have not seen the help file yet (still in final stages). But if it's anything like Ace, it will contain definitions of all the classes you are likely to encounter. From there, it's probably just a matter of looking through the code yourself and using various sites to assist with JavaScript syntax.

Having Ace and being familiar with its classes will certainly help.

Well, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little disappointed with the mapping capabilities. I know we haven't seen the full program but I think it's safe to bet at this point that it's not too much different than VX/VX ace. I was happy to hear they were bringing back the third layer only to see that you don't really have any control over it. And I'm guessing the autotile system is the same as well. Unfortunate.

The changeable resolution is cool  though and I think 48x48 is a great size to work on. This means I can dust off the tall sprites I made for XP and put them right in the default resolution without any big changes

I guess my likes and dislikes sorta cancel each-other out. I remain indifferent but I'll keep my eye out for any new developments...

And given that you have access to all the JS files that thr game uses which is supposedly everything, then you can probably read them to help understand the flow of the engine

@Karus: That was already answered, but it depends on how you purchased MV.  If you bought it from RPGW then you get the the Steam version plus the Offline version, but if you purchased it on steam you only get the steam version.    But you should be able to install it on all your machines with the steam version, don't know if there is a key use limit on the offline versions.

So it's been mentioned that the release date is 23rd October, but why doesn't the actual preorder page state that?

I bought it here so I got both steam and non-steam just wondering if non-steam is not limited to one machine.

While characters doesn't have naked sprites, you do have a male and female naked character model in the character creator, because yes, MV has a character creator like ace, but more awesome and complete, with sideview included so you can compare the female and male model and decide if each character is male/female/sairen.

I want to know, if I have boh the non steam and steam versions, would I be able to install on one pc the non steam version while the steam version on other ?

Yes, steam won't prevent a non-steam version of a product from running on the same, or another computer. The only thing that should stop that is if the program doesn't allow multiple instances of itself to be opened, but RPG Maker has never prevented that. And it sounds like you mean having the steam and non-steam versions on separate computers anyway, so yes, you'll be able to do that.

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
