Okay I'm getting super frustrated with this.

For the past couple days, while play testing my RPG Maker MV game, when I go to select a file to save my progress I've been getting this weird and annoying bug--selecting the file would give me the buzzer sound and when I check the save files folder the saves would all be gone. This is happening more and more frequently as the days go on. This has just started recently and I've been able to save normally without anything going wrong since I first started developing the game two weeks ago.

Since I know it's going to be asked, I have the "AltMenuScreen", "HPConsumeSkill" and Yanfly's "BattleAICore" plug ins enacted, and I've had the "AltSaveScreem" and "EnemyBook" plug-ins active but deleted them thinking they were the cause as I added them this week, which is also when the bug started happening. And, if it applies, I'm using the trial version with 5 days remaining.

I've already moved my game into a new game file once already hoping it would fix it and I'm hoping I won't need to again.

Please, if anyone knows what's happening, I'd really appreciate the help. I'm honestly getting close to saying "screw it" and quit my project, which would suck after all the time I've lovingly put into it, and me being so proud of myself for meeting a personal deadline with it (getting the first pre-alpha demo done before the trial runs out). I hope someone answers soon ^~^;

[UPDATE]

This issue has been solved.

If you have been experiencing similar issues run through this checklist

-Is the game software up to date?

-Have you made any changes to your plug ins, specifically added/subtracting them mid project with a save? Some will mess up your files doing this.

-Is there a parallel process running several items. Or one running at all.

Any of these can cause the bug.

Big thanks to everyone who helped me ^^

I didn't think MV created save files in the way the previous engines did - doesn't it just use a cookie or something?

You didn't say whether the game saves/loads correctly after you removed those plugins ... does it?

What if you start a brand new project with NO plugins whatsoever?

It works okay for the first few saves but then the bug happens out of nowhere

it saves okay (you can see the file in the list) but then you can't load it?

Do you have any events with script calls, either through the Script event command or in the Control Variables, Conditional Branch, Move Route or other commands that provide a script box?

No I mean I save, I go back to save again, it gives me the buzzer sound on both the saved file and the blank files, in other words I can save a few times but not again after that. then the save disappears. Loading works okay when the save files exist.

And I don't. I only had one script call, it was actually a plug in command for the EnemyBook, but I deleted the event after I deleted the plug in. Otherwise no, I don't have any script calls

If you go into Help > About it should give you a version.  Not sure if that's what Archeia is referring to, but that's where I look for mine.

Some plug ins add data to the save files, and if you delete (or add) those plug-ins, it will garbage your saves, as now some of the files have that data and some do not (which wrecks the save system). Chances are your adding/removing plugs-ins has done just that. The only fix for when that happens that I've found is to manually delete all save games under the save directory. Once those are gone, saving and loading will return to normal.

Back up the project before doing this just in case you accidentally delete the wrong file. You only want the files under the directory called save for your project.

Okay I did the update and now I've made an odd discovery: the glitch is now only happening on one map (to the best of my knowledge its just one anyway) and as soon as I leave I can load and save normally. There shouldn't be any sort of event that's preventing me from saving (like Disable Save Access), and even if there was it shouldn't make the save itself disappear should it? Would anything else cause this?

Thoughts?

There are two things I've seen that could cause one map to cause the problem:

1: The map has a parallel process running that has a load of items in memory, and it cannot save all of those.

2: A script call in an event causes the save operation to not work normally.

However, those are guesses. You may need tell us more about the map and what is going on in that map. What kind of events do you have on that one map?

The DataManager has a check in it to see if a game was saved correctly, and if there was an issue saving, it deletes the save file.

Are you certain the script had anything to do with it?  With the script active, are you always unable to save your game, and with the script disabled are you always able to save successfully?
