RPG Maker MV stops working at Splash

I bought RPG Maker MV off of Humble Bundle yesterday, downloaded it and when I try to launch it, it stops working.


I have tried some other solutions I have found on searches but none seem to work.


My Graphics Card is a Geforce GTX  750 Ti 


I am also using Windows 8


Sorry if this break forum rules and such but its kinda frustrating to have the software and cannot use it.

we can only help you if you tell us more about it - what exactly happens?


is there a crash, does it only show a whitescreen or whatever?


If you don't get anything, then most likely one of your background programs cancelled the editor - antivirus, parental protection software, anti-malware or so on.


Additionally, we need to know the exactl version you have - are you using the steam version or did you download a standalone version, and in the second case which version number is that?

Sorry, I believe its a crash since it comes up with a Window that tells me it has stopped working. Im not sure how to prevent background programs on Windows defender to not cancel it so that may likely be a problem. I am also using the Steam Version.

if it is a background program, you need to find out which one from the log it keeps (no such program ever blogs access without loggin that block in its action history) and if you found it, you need to whitelist the editor in that program (excluding it from the blog)


can you give a screenshot of the exact error window? And please update your display driver if you haven't done that in the last year or so.

that might be caused by your windows language settings - the locale path is usually checked only when there is a problem there.


Open steam program properties of RMMV, go to the language option and check which language is set there - make sure it's set to english and test again, or switch it to another language and see if that solves the problem. If yes, we can tell you how to override that if you need to switch back the language.


If that does not help, you'll have to contact official support on the main page, not the forum. The support tickets on www.rpgmakerweb.com ask for your SN, simply write "steam" there to get past that. You should get a reply within three business days (weekends don't count), usually much faster. Please tell them which language your windows is set to in addition to the info here.


By the way - please don't use MS Paint for anything other than screenshots - MS Paint does not support transparency and deletes the alpha channel of all pictures it handles - that is a big problem with sprites and tilesets that require transparency to work.

Alright, that unfortunately did not work so I will contact official support. Thanks for taking the time to try and help me fix this and sorry about the MS Paint.

Could u fix your problem?
I downloaded the trial version from the official site yesterday, after the install i got the same error, i'm looking for solutions all over the web, but i couldn't find anything usefull.
I'm using


     -Windows 8 64 bit


     -my graphic card is NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M


     -8Gb ram


     -and Intel Core i5-2430 CPU 2,4Ghz

I didn't get any information about the error, but if u need anyhing and i can get it i'll post it.

@DonPug Please do nothijack other people's topics, but make your own for your problems. I'm closing this.


Please update your display drivers and check if your antivirus is blocking the program - that are the two most probably solutions.


If that doesn't work, make a new topic with the info to ask.
