The children's elf ears appear in the characters and side-view battlers of the character generator, but the adults' ears still do not appear...

Because the adult one doesn't have any graphics. The elf ears we made were specifically for kids.

Yeah, but you said in another topic (1.3.3 update) that was already done, but not yet in that update. Is this still going to happen?

Um no I didn't? At least I don't remember saying that.

I'm still on Version 1.3.2, I think. Do I need to update to 1.3.3 first before updating to 1.3.4?

I have RPGMaker MV for MAC via Steam and it broke during the update.

Now it won't launch.

I already verified the integrity of my cache and that checks out, but does not solve the problem.

I already rebooted and re-attempted verification and that does not solve the problem either.

It seems that the KID folder doesn't exist, and the steam update keeps crashing and won't update or allow me to launch the application.

I am dead in the water, I can't launch, use, or update RPGMaker MV for MAC via Steam.

This is terrible. I have had no issues with RPGMaker MV until now.

Any ideas how to fix this so I can use it again?

Have you tried to check files or reinstall it?

Yes, in this page:

Then you misunderstood my post on both accounts.

The ears SHOULD reflect on the generator now in this update, but as I said, the adult one has no graphics. Those are two fundamentally different things.

Kovak,

Yes. Thanks for your suggestion. It seems that my problem was caused by being offline for two months and not having any of the two or three newer RPGMaker MV Updates. I was able to fix the issue by completely deleting the cached content and re-downloading the entire program.

I tried the same thing with Game Character Hub Portfolio Edition since I had the same type of problem with that but that is still broke, so I logged a support ticket with Steam Support for that one.

But what's the point of reflecting on the generator if there are no graphics?

I thought when you said that it would be fixed, there would be graphics as well, and if the ears were made for the children, why leave the adults without them?

Even more now that the children have, the adult's generator without these graphics is incomplete. I just think this should have come with the graphics since the launch of the program, because it does not make sense to have the elf ears if they do not appear in the generated characters.

Sorry, but this is my opinion.

Because we made the Kid parts. Not the MV Adult Generator parts.

There's a fix for this too. Look up hiddenone's mv resources and your sideview ears are there (plus a boat load more like lizard men and dog people in complete side view that can change clothes and everything). Just find that total download and follow her instructions. You will be more than pleased. I know you want an "official" solution, but this is actually better. Hiddenone and others have expanded the generator way beyond what you could expect rpg maker and team to do for free. If I get a chance I'll link Avery's list if I can find it again. It has most, if not all user made generator updates. The problem with that is you'd have to rename a bunch of stuff (outside of hiddenone's which is plug n play) but there is an "extended" generator with an easy import feature that saves you the 12 hours of renames (like I did at first) and all the user errors you will undoubtably make (like I did) and it works VERY well! Link or shut up, right? Okay, I'll post links when I get to my pc, if you still need them.

Because we made the Kid parts. Not the MV Adult Generator parts.

1st rule of business: Can't please em all. Lol ;)

If you mean that you want to set a String object to an in-game variable (those which you can select in the event editor with the Control Variables command), it was always possible.

You can set anything for any variable with the script option, and check them in conditional branches with the script option too if needed.

Sadly, the built-in page conditions in the event editor are not capable of comparing anything else than integers for variable conditions, so if you wanted to do that for this reason, you won't be able to do it (as far as I know, but I haven't checked these MV updates yet).

Oh, silly me!

There is no way to check for string values in the editor and the one time I tried to stick a string in a global variable the editor didn't like it, gave me an error, so I assumed they were not officially supported. Perhaps I used " instead of '... or the other way around... I can't believe I got this far without ever using a single string variable lol.

Anyways thanks.

I'm pretty sure I used " when I last tried setting a string to a variable in MV for test purposes. maybe there was something wrong with the way you tried to set it to the variable.
