Hey everyone, the latest version of RPG Maker MV is here!

We would like to remind everyone to make sure to do the following steps before updating to ensure that when the update happens so your changes won’t be overwritten:
  • Make a backup of your Generator folder if you edited it.
  • Replace BGM files if you got it from 1.3.0.
If you have an old project that needs updating, do the following:
  • Make a backup of your project.
  • Create a new project or go to the NewData folder in your RPG Maker MV root (where MV is installed) folder.
  • Copy the new js files (RPG*.js and Libs Folder) and replace the one in your -old project.
  • DO NOT COPY plugins.js or it will replace your plugin settings.
  • Copy index.html files to your current project.
It should now be updated!

Changelog

  • Character Generator: JSON files prior to v1.3.4 can now be loaded normally
  • MacOSX : Dark Mode fixed with better title bar
  • Mac Deployment : Exported game can now be played on a different machine.
  • Character Generator : FG_Clothing2_p08 bug with color not changing fixed
  • Android : fix to sound not playing when using newer versions of Chrome.
  • Script Changelog by Yanfly.
Reporting Bugs and/or Suggestions:

Download Links
  • If you have a steam copy, you do not need these files. It should automatically update for you.
  • You only need one of the installers. If you have crappy net, patch installer might be the one for you.
  • You do not need to install the older versions to install this one.

Looks like I'll just wait until 1.3.6 then. I don't see a reason to update right now as only the generator is the only major change.

Okay, when I open my RPG Maker MV, it says that I'm on trial. That is surpose to be impossible, cuz I bought it off of Steam like 2 years ago.

Update: I just uninstall, and re-install my RPG Maker MV. I kinda had the idea that it'll might fix it.

Update appreciated, even if a small one lol. Please, keep it up! I wish to see more improvements in the core engine and editor.

It looks like the new version automatically selects the system language. And the chinese translation appears to be machine translated and a lot of them do not make sense. It is much harder to use now....
I heard steam version can change language but can't find it in standalone version.

In standalone, you need to create a file named "Locale" (no filetype ending, not even txt) containing the two-letter language code you want to switch to (notepad works). I don't know the letters for chinese however.

Nice nice, always great to see updates, MV has really come a long way, thanks for the continued work to make MV better.

The only have 2 issues that I hope get resolved soon....

1) How is the mobile port progress going? I haven't updated yet to 1.3.5 but I know prior to this update MV runs like crap on mobile (even small sized games are unplayable, even on my Galaxy s6 and s7 its rendered unplayable, runs beautifully on PC and Mac, no parallax and no parallel processes!) . Again, the MV mobile port was a big seller for me (one of the main reasons I purchased my first RPG maker Game engine in the first place) and I really hope that someday it will work well for mobile devices.

2) How come the "remove all unused assets" no longer works efficiently? How come MV stripper is reported to work better? The main issue is the fact that it does not deal with plugin resources. Surprising considering plugins are a huge part of MV. Any work being done to rectify this situation? (1 is much more important though).

bonus: Just curious, is it true, the rumors that MV is trying to move away from PIXI?

Thanks! I look forward to more updates and support, keep up the good work.

I wish you guys would read the Bug Reports/Suggestions first before asking about Mobile :)

I looked through it... didn't see any reference to a mobile porting process. A link would be nice so that people could follow if they are hoping that this update would fix this huge oversight.

Ah, I did see that. Somewhere it should mention "this is the answer for the mobile porting process" so you can imagine why I didn't view this as the mobile answer.

Even in light of this information I do have a couple questions:

1) I already have a browser version that works well, of course it only works on PC and MAC. So I imagine this is the mobile browser answer (runs like crap on mobile)?

2) How will this eventually translate to a mobile port that I can package and deliver to the Apple Play Store Or Google Play Store to potentially sell to over 2 billion smart phones in the world? (I want a mobile APK to install locally, bypassing the need to play on a browser, especially for mobile.)

Just saying this works 'crap in mobile' solves nothing. It's nebulous, not specific, doesn't state anything. Cannot be fixed unless you actually go in and find out what is the problem.

The roadmap details the problems MV faces as a whole. IF those are fixed then all games would run perfectly on everything.

Oh ok,

Well the mobile ports of MV games are incredibly laggy to the point of being virtually unplayable. I do not use parallax mapping, I do not use parallel processes. I do use scripts (c'mon, its designed for scripts). My game runs beautifully on PC and Mac and runs great on browsers. Even IF a games uses parallax and parallel events the game (mobile port) should still be playable.

Summary: The MV mobile deployment (advertised as a main selling point of the engine, the reason why I chose it, from day 1) runs so slowly and laggy, that its unplayable. I followed the help file to a T (I hope the help file gets updated when improvements arrive).

Do not get me wrong, I love and support MV. I actually teach a college class, video game development, and MV is the engine I use to teach the class. My college will soon be placing an order for more copies of the engine for crying out loud. I am was just curious about this aspect of the engine as an avid supporter of MV, I would really love to see my game actually play on a mobile device (local, non browser version).

Ok, I think I have to rephrase my words. Yes, we're aware that MV Mobile is unplayable. Yes, we are aware of the issues. All the issues are laid out in the roadmap of OSS Project so all the users can understand why it's not fixed yet. MV's problem runs much deeper and nobody cares about elaborated technical explanations.

In short, it is hard to find a way to fix RPG Maker MV's core where all the plugins will still work.

@KillerGin : About #2, that is the fault of the plug-in writers, not MV, as it is up to all the plug-in writers to mark things used in the plug-in as used so the engine knows. If they don't do it (or won't...some had said it would break their plug-ins to do this, so they won't), then there is nothing MV can do. And honestly, it is up to you to make sure only used assets are there in the first place, and not depend on the program to do it.

@Sirina We cannot help you if you don't give us information about it.
That sounds like your antivirus program made a false-positive on the new update, so you at least need to tell us which AV you're using.

And I suggest you do that in a new topic, using the bug report template and better descriptions than
.. bla bla.. didnt, start the MV ..
;-)

Spiffing up maps is actually a lot of fun.
So the concept for my Game Jam project is way more than I can complete before the deadline. But I think I found a way to get the core done and make the incomplete parts either not really noticeable or make them a part of the story for now. That sneaky, dastardly Krampus! Then I can complete the rest. Did I mention that this is fun?
