So I downloaded RPG Maker MV (had pre-ordered it from the site, not steam) from the link in last night's e-mail, and opened the zip file. There's a setup.exe and a setup-1.bin file in there. I extracted the setup-1.bin file, and double-clicked it... it pulled up a Archiving progress window, and created a Setup-1.bin.cpgz file. I then double-clicked that, and it created a Setup-1 2.bin file. And on and on it goes. It just keeps replicating itself.

I'm running OS X 10.10.3 (Yosemite) on my iMac, which meets the minimum requirements.

The bin file is a really nonstandard way to install on Mac, but I naturally assumed someone had actually tested this thing.

What am I doing wrong? Or is there a bug?

Hi GolfHacker, there was a problem with releasing the MacOSX version of the standalone package, and we're fixing it. So for now, you will have to wait for Steam version. We're very sorry about this delay.

Major bummer! But thanks for letting me know. Hopefully it won't take long to fix the non-Steam version. (I don't use Steam)

Will you be sending us an email when the non-steam version is ready for Mac OS X. Will I need another version?

Yes we will. We would like to fix all the issues first before making the Mac build for the sake of user ease. Once again, I apologize for the delay. :rsad:

Thanks a lot!

Talking about other issues I want to know...In the future there will be Mac Versions of the old RPG Makers, like XP? I think the answer is no but who knows XD

And again, thank you so much for replying! (Even when the question you quote wasn't mine)

(IT's an engine, not a game)

Redeem the key on Steam, and it'll work via there.

There was a problem with the standalone Mac version, so for now you'll have to download it on steam or play it through windows if you have parallels for mac, that's probably the best alternative I can tell you, sorry if I can't be any more help to you

Can someone at least tell me if i can get a refund or something? I really wanted a RPG Maker on a mac that WORKS! Now if i want it to work i have to get steam too? Do i have to download steam like i downloaded this RPG Maker or do i just make an account. And also if i did make a steam account how would i redeem the key? Please at least tell me a real answer to when a real mac standalone version is coming out

The standalone will be made available, but no one has a date yet, Degica waits for the next update from the japanese programmers (you can read about that in the wednesday update announcement), and hopefully that will include the MacOSstandalone.

Until then, you'll need to download the Steam Client for MacOS, install it and go to the game menu to the option to activate a program on steam. At that menu, you'll get a window where you can enter your key and then install it.

Download the Steam client - the client itself is quite a small download if I remember correctly. Once done, create an account. Once that is done, go to games -> activate a product on steam and paste your code there.

I tried using Rpg maker mv in parallels, it won't let me import anything, basically all of the sprites and sprite battlers are not in there, so don't try and use parallels because MV will not work properly even if you install it (which I stupidly did thinking it would work)

Have there been any news about the Mac stand-alone version, out of curiosity? A friend of mine is apparently considering buying RPG Maker MV, but he uses Mac and for reason or another would rather not use it via the Steam client (possibly due to his Internet connection being a bit weak).

Well there are parallels but someone posted this:

If your friend is ok with not importing any sprites or tile sets then he can use parallels. If your friend wants to import sprites and tile sets it looks like he has to use Steam until they create a Mac standalone version. And if your friend's internet connection is weak then he can download the Steam program, from what I know it works offline, but I have never used it offline. I hope this helped!

He mad, but he cute :kaopride:

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
