much of it will be doable by converting the 32x32 tiles into 16x16 grids and then reassembling as 48x48.

Meh, I'd rather have all my graphics be custom-made for my game, personally. But that's just me.

Still, that preview is tiny. I can't wait for the full size version to be released and translated for the benefit of non-Japanese speakers. As it is, you have to squint to make out what parts of the main text aren't in Japanese characters, and the actual Japanese text is probably illegible even to those who understand Japanese. I guess that's the whole point, though, so that you still have to buy the magazine to read the article.

Also, I wonder if one could convert existing graphical resources to a vector format, then resize them to 48x48 there and convert back? At least, assuming that the 48x48 tile size is fixed. I hope it's not, and let's face it: we still don't know for sure. That unreadable text may yet be hiding something, after all. And I doubt that this preview tells us all there is to know; even VX Ace had quite a lot of info revealed after the initial preview, if I remember correctly.

Sprites look similar. Dammit! I one to have one real sized one to compare against the current RTP.

EDIT:

After some zooming and cutting and pasting, I believe the style while similar, may be noticeably different from VX/Ace RTP. They also seem taller.

That does it for me.

New RTP style confirmed. I'll still need to look at the palette to see how many tones per color they'll be using and the saturation differences. But sprites are definitely larger. The one shown is taller and has a wider face and eyes.

Well, that's one page down, it looks like. (Going by the screenshots, anyways.) Wonder when they'll cover the other page of the Famitsu article?

@Jackus: Well, the page is bigger, but I can't help but feel that any information that couldn't be gleaned from the original preview will be rather hard to glean from your enlargement. And unless someone has an enhance button sitting around somewhere, we're going to have to wait until the actual Famitsu drops to be able to read the full article.

those sideview battlers are rather chubby and etc. but they're not obnoxious like 2k3's ones, they're just unf <3

I'm so eager to see the new rmmv <3 <3 <3

Mmm, I could work with 48x48 I guess.  It's really large for pixel art but it's doable.  It would just take forever to get anything made.  I could also scale up my 16x16 stuff without any issue but not anything that's 32x32.  Pixel Myth would be obsolete.  Yuck.  I reeeeeeally don't want that.  32x32 was already uncomfortably large for pixel art.  Oh man, I wanted to make tons of stuff for PM, what am I going to do if I can't scale it? *worries*
Assuming Jackus is right, how would the Pixel Myth stuff look 40x40?

I don't understand all this hate, this new RTP looks amazing to me and the sprites are very nice, I'm probably biased since I don't like tall ones at all, but they do look good anyway and I'm sure they will have a lot of poses. The world map tiles look less blocky aswell, and that's another plus.

You can even switch Battle System, I like everything I see so far.

I wouldn't be so sure. These screens are not 100% color reliable.

I hope they dont go "mv ace" or something like that, cause i'm not going to buy it if they are planning on just making an updated version come out some time later.

the new battlers are beautiful, the new sprites are pretty and of course if you use more pixels the art with be more detailed.


I just wanna use all the stuff I have, and I won't be able to use ANY in this environment.

No one hates the new RTP. There's just an incredible amount of 32x32 graphics that might not look properly in the RMMV.

Aside from that, the new RTP DOES look very pretty, no doubt!
