I noticed the screen is wider. Can I guess the size? I would say... 1104 by 624 (23x13 tiles). Am I right? :p
I use that format for MV every since the start :p Looks much better when playing full screen on a HD screen.

I am not wowed because I ain't a animator. I was looking forward about the character editor. But the time progress system was interesting
To me it just looke like a standard turn based battle.

That skit was great, but not perfect (why no Aluxes @Archeia :asad:). I really enjoyed it, even if my headcanon of Reid is that he's the son of Fess. And also a prince.

The cover art characters look lovely, but wasn't there already a fairy named Sofia in MV's cover art?

Aw maaan, I can’t listen to music during work. What where you thinking? Why didn’t you foresee this ? Doesn’t anyone on the marketing team think about my special circumstances?
Same here, but I guess that's what lunch breaks are for.

I admit it's kind of wonky to make people go to another program to do particles. I mean it's obviously nothing to those of us who already use lots of outside stuff. But for the kind of beginner RM is usually geared towards, it's a very awkward choice.
I'm pretty sure there will be Animations included in the RTP. Also kind of non-issue in my opinion. I mean you need a different software if you want to make music or (non-generated) sprites or tiles or any other resources.

What you're showing has pretty much nothing to do with sprite sheets.
As it says it's used to draw "a simple square/rectangular surface" as opposed to other shapes like ribbon or ring.
What you gotta to do if you want to use a sprite sheet is, first cut every sprite into distinct images files and then load them as independent texture files and finally create a sequence with those.
I know how it work i took a major in 3D and do plenty of 3D works.

But you missee my point.
If it can load a sprite you can make a sequences from it lol. You can even make sparticle who have individual sprite animation to each other

I perfectly know how a particle engine works

For people saying to go outside. The problem is that doing a particle engine that is customizable and optimized/ powerful its actually a big hassle.

As one say : why recreating the wheel if theres an perfectly working wheel disponible?

Really? But... 1280 is not dividable by 48. :p I guess the screen does not have to be as wide as X whole tiles... I just didn't expect that. 720 is still dividable by 48 though :p

I agree, they almost certainly will include default animations. And it will unlikely be an issue with most users who will probably never even open Effekseer. I just thought it was weird to suggest it to newer people.

@ImaginaryVillain
Being impressed with these changes doesn't make anyone a beginner with rm.
Sometimes having inbuilt stuff is just more convenient than having to rely on external software.

Oh I didn't say it makes you a beginner by impressed with the changes. Only that the animation change was strange because it sends people to an eternal software which is odd for a program that usually targets newer/non-experienced game devs.

I am in agreement having in built stuff is more convenient, which is why this is weird. It's not inbuilt at all. You only get to adjust a few minor options on something you build in Effekseer.

It's not a complaint on my end, I personally don't mind using third party stuff. I already do for my PIXI particles. Just a musing over it being a weird direction to go with MZ given RM's usual demographic.

I'm kind of confused with particle animations. I though it'll be something like "snap to event", for example for creating glowing sparcles on event, splashing dynamic water,etc... Well, we'll see.

Oh my god. Those cover characters. And their names.
Karlheinz in Germany is like an absurd name, reserved for comedic parodies or really old man.

My good friend Karlheinz (Age 32) won't agree xD Yes the name is getting rare, but after all it's a totally normal german name. Not just for comedy purposes.

I haven't had a chance to mess around with Effekseer yet but I am 99% sure there is a way to make pixel style particle animations. I imagine it would just be a totally different way of approaching the creation of said animations and probably has a few downsides since you'd basically be needing to create a 2D illusion in 3D space which is 100% possible, it's just whether or not this program makes this process possible or not but honestly it's mostly just a factor of creating the right building blocks for the tower you are building so to speak.

Will report back once I've investigated further.

On the surface of it all, I'm not super excited about it. Though I kinda knew I wouldn't be. I still remain excited for what the future holds for the engine and what the various content contributions and plugin makers will do with this engine. That's the part that's exciting and "wow" for me and it seems there could be some exciting stuff in the animations and there are hints that the code could be easier to mess around with for plugin makers. That's the part that makes me excited.

I got the chance to look at the battle video properly in high res on a bigger screen now that I’m off work. Gotta say, those big trees are the best RTP trees we’ve gotten since XP. They actually look good enough that I don’t think they’ll get “old as fast. Which is great because I’m going to be using them for sure.

The “deep grass” though, not sure about that. It looks very much like.. some kind of mossy phlegm? But oh well. The fact that we’re getting good trees in the RTP easily overshadows this and any other minor tiles not being up to snuff.

@slimmmeiske2
I feel like Kadokawa and Degica is pretending they don’t know who I am, you know? I mean, I’ve not even gotten a pre-launch steam key for beta testing yet? How can this be... :kaoswt:

@Touchfuzzy
I wish Degica would conform (sooner rather than later) if we’ll be able to port our MV projects to MZ on day one. And not manually, but with some kind of converter like the one we got for VxAce to MV. If it’s possible, I think this is vital info for a lot of us...
