Hello RPG Makers!
Thank you for using RPG Maker MZ, as always, we appreciate your support! We hope you are enjoying it so far. The latest update, Version 1.3.0, is now live with some major updates and bug fixes!

Download Update

Major Updates
  • Options to change the map layer have been added to the toolbar
  • A search option for plugin help has been added
Minor Updates
  1. Effekseer: The editor can now directly access the js/libs/effekseer.min.js and js/libs/effekseer.wasm and it is now possible to directly replace them for updates
  2. Command: The help for the new control codes to the text command have been added to the text command help popup:
    • px: x pos
    • py: y pos
    • fs: font size
  3. Project: it is now possible to create subfolders for organizing assets inside audio, img, plugins and they can be accessed by the editor. However please be aware there might be unforeseen behavior when putting plugins in subfolders.
  4. System: When changing the height / width of the screen in system 2 it is now possible to auto adjust the enemies position based on their relative position in the old resolution
  5. System: A windows opacity setting has been added to system 2
  6. Command: The "Change Class" command switch now correctly reads "Save XP"
  7. (Japan only) 「RPGアツマール」 has been renamed to 「ゲームアツマール」
  8. Map: The option to load a sample map has been renamed "Load Sample Map"
  9. Asset updates:
    • The bubbles animated tile has been updated with transparency around the bubble for more varied use
    • The mouth variation 16 for males has been made more obvious
    • The official plugin "UniqueDataLoading" has been renamed "UniqueDataLoader"
  10. Option: Fix to the transparent color set up not affecting specific places in the database or event editor
  11. Fix to the color bleeding off the edge of some windows
  12. Change to the size of the edit windows for the "Script" command
  13. 2 additional fantasy BGM added (inside dlc/FantasyResourcePack)
  14. 3 enemy models for soldiers added (inside dlc/FantasyResourcePack)
  15. Plugin updates:
    • ExtraImage.js
    • ExtraWindow.js
    • PluginCommonBase.js
    • EffekseerForRPGMakerMZ_Ex.js
  16. Fix to the bug preventing to open a project directly from its project file when Steam is not running
NOTE: We are aware of a new bug in 1.3.0 in regards to some lag when the editor is opening anything that references images, as well as the event editor lacking the ability to use B-E tiles for events. We are working to fix this as soon as possible.

UPDATE (6/22/2021, 5:46PM Pacific: The download is now updated to 1.3.1 which fixes the problems in the above note)

How to update your project(s):

  • Create a backup of your project or only its data and js folders. Updating can sometimes cause your project to break so this is for the safety of your hard work!
  • Update your project by going to the Main Tool Bar -> Game -> Update Corescript option.

  • To get the graphical updates, create a new project and copy the following files from the newly created project to your project folder:
    • img/characters/People2.png

For those who updated: did this update break anything else?

Yanfly's announcement on Discord had the following stated bugs:

1. You cannot set tiles as event graphics in this current version.
2. There is a lot of lag when picking a graphic file in the editor (such as picking an actor's face graphic).
3. You cannot reposition enemies in the Troops tab.

But this may not be a universal thing, as I'm still able to do 1 and 3 just fine and selecting graphics doesn't lag any more than it did before.

Okay the lag from selecting images is pretty annoying but at least the issue is being working and that is some very welcome news.

1 and 2 is fixed in 1.31 which is already on Steam and should be coming to standalone super soon.

3 is something that we can't seem to replicate.

To replicate Bug 3, use a screen resolution lower than the normal 816x624. This was noticed in a 320x240 resolution game (to imitate RM2k3 games).

This is because the Troops layout graphic is updated to be proportional to the screen resolution. However, there is dead space towards the bottom of the screen where I believe Ojima-san made it impossible to move enemies into for the sake of the status window.

If there are enemies positioned there prior to the update, they're stuck.

I have not confirmed if this has been fixed in v1.3.1 yet since I'm waiting on the standalone update.

Thanks, will send this to dev team. It "may" be fixed in 1.3.1 already as that is what I'm using and I can't get them stuck, I can grab one below the reserved space and it will pop up above the "no" line reserved for the status window instead of not moving.

I gotta say : I wasn't expecting much of an RM update but I got genuily surprised and was quite excited

I love the new Mapping buttons

and for the love of god thank you for subfolders... supports gosh darnit this is sometime that I enjoy a lots.

WAY LESS of pain in the ass when doing organisations.

My only feedback would be :

is it possible to add an Context menu in the Import window to let us create folders? instead of having to go to the project folders? for the next update?
Would be awesome and less clicking or fiddling around.

EDIT :

may also add an special icon to differentiate Folder from regular pictures? sometime it doesn't looks as obvious

other than that
good job on this update I like the update!

Going off of what Yanfly said, things are a tad weird with troop placement. With v1.3.1 for enemies to be centered on the screen they have to be in the back corner on the troop screen. I also have MZ at 1280x720 so that might do some strange things.

I've downloaded and installed the update, however when I go to open MZ, there isn't the option for version 1.3.1 at all. (I'm using the standalone free for a month version)

Contest or trial version. I think we still need to update the contest version.

Contest version I believe, though it does warn me it is a trial (39 days left).

Edit: Scratch that last part, it mentions it is the "free event version".
I thought I should also mention the lag with the image windows occasionally causes my MZ to crash when it takes too long trying to load it. (MZ just closes itself without a warning)

I downloaded the standalone linked from the first post and it yields version 1.3.0.

I wondered if this was just a text error that didn't update, but I don't see any fixes towards the tile-events, as well as the lag being there. The stuck troops still persist, too, so it's probably at 1.3.0 instead of 1.3.1.

... Hmmm... I'm checking now it was supposed to be updated.

EDIT: Apologies, I had gotten the wrong link somehow. The new link is 1.3.1 I just downloaded from that link and installed and checked. Again, all on me this time. Thank you for your help.

Troops are still bugged... need to be placed in editor at top left corner or they won't be "centered." If you do "align", the editor shows troop in center, but in-game the troops will get placed on bottom right corner...
My project is 1920 x 1080, it was created BEFORE 1.31 update.

For NEW project created after 1.31 update, you can do "align" and troops will be "centered" in the editor and in-game, even at 1920x1080 resolution.

Please fix so older projects don't have align bug with troops... it's really annoying because we can't finely tune the positions.

Damn. We’ve gotten so close to 0 reports, 0 approvals a few times over the past couple weeks. Does it matter? No. Is it realistic. No? Do I rely on your reports and want everyone to keep posting. Yes. Do I 100% games? …sigh… Yes.

Ah yes, all three of my moods all at once.
