It amazes me why nobody ever uses system restore when trying to diagnose their PC problems. It's like everyone's forgotten about it. This is NOT System Recovery, it's different.
Try out system restore on your PC to a point before it started happening. This will keep your files, but any settings you've saved or programs you've installed will be reverted or uninstalled respectively.
The good news is your problem will most likely go away, and your files will not be affected.
My first rule of thumb is, if I'm going to do a major change on the computer, I make a system restore point. Usually the PC will also automatically make a restore point right before you install programs so it's very useful.
