(Rpg maker VX Ace) Event starting another event

It IS making the npc invisible. That's the same as disabling the event.


Your first page is the ONLY one that should have no conditions (and even then, sometimes, the first page will have conditions too, if you don't want it to be there by default). All the other pages should have conditions.


What turns on switch 1?

PAge one is turned on by the floor event using switch five.

Shaz, I actually edited the second post to avoid posting three in a row  ;)  But I will remember that rule next time.

Thalldor, I have actually been tinkering with my own rpg maker to help you, and ended up making a crude version of your scene based off of what you have told me- why don't you message me what all you want in the scene and we can work it out? You are on the same track as me now, but as I'm unsure as to what your scene is like, I can only guess on some of the things that should be done... It sounds like we almost have it!

EDIT: I think I just figured it out! I'm going to try and post some pictures in a little while. Offline duties call.

Yeah, you've got too many events, too many switches and too many pages. You can do this whole thing using two events, each with 2 pages, and one switch. Only one page of one of those events will actually have any commands on it. You're just complicating it way too much by trying to spread the processing out.


While you're waiting for jasminedragon, take a look at the Blog link in the top right corner, at the Tips section, and find the article called "Events are Not NPCs: The Biggest Mistake in Cutscene Events" and have a read through it.

Welp, sorry to over complicate things lol, I'm simply explaining what works for me. Speaking of complicated, how does posting pictures on here even work? It's like the pictures already have to be on the internet...

More or less of a bump to get this back in--

I will be posting a VIDEO for you all to look at on what is going on, I will announce the video on this thread when I get the chance, hopefully a video can clear things up.

(I want you to note I was jsut messing around with it today and it may be changed alittle from when we last spoke.

(ALso now I want it where if you talk to the girl the event on the floor is (erased) from the game, Although its giving me problems.)

So many problems!


On your NPC event, pages 1 and 2 have no conditions. That means page 1 will NEVER be executed. Why not just put the Control Switch 5 onto the second page along with all the other commands?


Your exit event has an Action Button trigger. Why? The player won't SEE anything there to know they have to use the action button. And again, page 3, with no conditions, will ALWAYS be the active one, so the first two (both useless) will never get a look-in.


The engine looks for the HIGHEST numbered page whose conditions are met. This includes pages with NO conditions.


Combine pages 1 and 2 of your NPC event.


Delete pages 1 and 2 of your exit event. On the remaining page change the trigger from Action Button to Player Touch. Add another page (which will now be page 2) conditioned by switch 5 (or whatever it was), with no event commands.

Thank you for the help, that section is now working well, although I seem to of ran into another problem related to this where I need 1 event to start another event...

I have a area in my town where you can choose to battle this person, and if you battle this person (and succeed) you're transferred to a broken place, now here is the problem, I want it where if you try to re enter the area it will stay like that, although for some reason it is not working when I activate the event...

The switch event has more priority over the normal area,

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
