RPG Maker Vx Ace Won't Start!!!

I have been working on a project for a considerable amount of time.

One day, I get ready to work on it. On trying to open RMVXA (through Steam) the logo pops up. I wait a few minutes. It doesn't open. I scroll my mouse over the logo. It changes to the "waiting" sign.

I browsed all the forums for why it doesn't start up, tried everything (uninstalling, re-installing, checking for antivirus programs that could block it, verifying game integrity cache), and nothing worked.

Please help! When I open the program, Steam closes, and the RMVXA program tab disappears. When I check task manager, it says the program's running but not responding.

My local disk has about 80 GB left, I'm running an HP Envy laptop.

Does anyone know what I should do?

Sometimes RMVXA steam takes a while to load. (Like because of Cloud Sync). Try going offline mode or disable cloud synching for a bit.

Hence why i dropped steam version over here ;(

I ran in to all sorts of problems with it, similar to this one.

Have you tried a system restore?

Do your other Steam games work currently or is the problem only with RMVXA?

I have the same problem (or at least I think so). In my case all my other steam games work. And I tried almost everything as well: reinstalling, clearing my workshop data, deleted some old projects I haven't been working on lately, checking the game cache and of course the Antivirus check. Nothing seems to help.

Oh and going offline won't help either.

Are you trying to open the RMVXA from within Steam or from your desktop/project icons?

I think I found the problem: it has something to do with the steam workshop update. When I went back to the old version my problem solved itself.

I think the problem was originally caused by the steamcloud synchronisation. I would have to test that however.

Right-Click on the line "RPG Maker VX Ace" in steam, select properties, go to the beta page and then select the old non-workshop-version as you "Beta" (even if it isn't a real beta)

It worked!
I went back to the old update; of course, this means no workshop, but WHO CARES?!
