Any experience on that? I'm quite afraid that the VX ACE games won't work at all with windows 10. One of my customers uses the Win 10 Tech build and he has massive errors and can't even launch the game.

Windows 10 is not released yet for a very good reason. It is still in BETA.

Thus any "experience" from the technical build is useless.

Tech build has hardware compatibility issues to solve.

Tech build has more issues to fix.

Tech build is so people will use it and send feedback on microsoft, so the final release will be as bug-free as possible.

"I'm quite afraid that the VX ACE games won't work at all with windows 10".

Same fear came for Windows 7 and 8.

Still VX Ace runs on both.

And you r fear is based on trying a  VX Ace game on a DEMO  of an Operating System that is NOT YET compatible with all hardware whatsoever.

So... let's be a little patient and fear free, shall we? :)

PS: If that's the case, then many other programs wont work too. Thus there will be a compatibility layer or solution for this (worst case scenario).

I hope so, and this is an MS issue really.

Didn't heard Satya Nandella saying that it won't be back compatible (nobody would buy that in that case anyway that's why I assume everything will be ok)

I run Windows 10 and RPG Maker VX ACE runs fine. I only recommend the "Fullscreen++" script from here:
http://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?/topic/14081-fullscreen/?hl=fullscreen

Because else you might get a framedrop to 20 FPS in fullscreen. Windowed everything runs smooth with 60 FPS. :D
The editor itself has no issues at all. (\s/)

System Specifications:

Windows 10 64 bit Technical Preview

Asrock 960GM-VGS3 FX

LC Power 550w

AMD FX 4130 3,8 GHz

8 GB DDR3-1866 RAM 10/10/10/30

ZOTAC Nvidia GTX 650 Ti:

GPU Clock 941 MHz

Memory Clock 1350 MHz

For driver updates I used the Windows 8.1 64bit drivers, worked for me with sound and graphiccard. ;) /)

I use it on the Tech Preview, and it works fine.

I installed my legal copy of RPGVXAce on my laptop with Windows 10. For some reason, whenever I try to run it nothing happens. When I check the Task Manager I can see the RPGVXAce taking the 26% of my CPU process but I can't find the editor on the desktop. I even tried with the updated version. I hope someone can tell what's happening.

I know, but since some people can run their copy of the software on their Windows 10 installations, I thought I may be doing something wrong...

I only start it with steam, no compatibility or anything else. :/
I run Windows 10 64 Bit Technical Preview.
But if it doesn't work you can try compatibility mode for Windows 7 or update the drivers with Windows 8.1 drivers, worked for me. ;) (\s/)

Most people have no trouble running it on Windows 8. But some do. It is not RPG Maker - it is the computer specs, or the compatibility settings, or something else.

If SOME can run it on Windows 10, then there's likely some configuration thing that's different between your machines.

How many beta versions have been released? Do you know you're running the same version of Windows 10? Are you 32-bit or 64-bit? Experimenting with the compatibility settings might help too.

In short, look for ANY thread where people are having troubles running Ace on ANY version of windows, and go through all the steps mentioned. You don't necessarily need Win-10-specific advice.

And yes, remember, look at post #2.

My rig is:

Windows 10 64 bit Pro Technical Preview Build 9926

LC Power 550w

AMD FX 4130 3,8 GHz @ 4,1 GHz

8 GB DDR3-1866 RAM 10/10/10/30

ZOTAC Nvidia GTX 650 Ti:

GPU Clock 941 MHz @ 1100 MHz

Memory Clock 1350 MHz @ 1750 MHz
But guess you're right, sometimes are minor things the problem. Like wrong mainboard, software you installed or what so ever...
Guess it's impossible to say without spying someone out. :/ (\s/)

I have an Acer Aspire E5-571G-38VF with a fourth gen Corei3 processor running at 1.9 GHZ, 8 GB RAM, Intel HD 4400 and Nvidia Geforce 820m with 1 GB VRAM. Perhaps my issue is related to Windows 10 and the compatibility of this PC with the actual build because now I'm running WIndows 8.1 (64 bit) and RPGVXAce is running perfectly.

That's actually weird, because for me nothing changed in comparsion with Windows 8.1. o_O

Anyway, I'm glad it works now for you. :D (\s/)

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
