Can I ask a few questions please?, as I am making a mobile commercial game too

1. How is your file size only 88mb? I've barely started a 30-40 hour game and mine is already 300mb

2. Is this RPGMMV?

3. How long did it take you to make this?

4. is it made just using the RTP assets?

Thanks

Jim

In general, the Google Play market seems to be quite small, especially compared to iOS and Steam. On the GP market, you actually have stats to the nearest landmark rounded down and even if you were to say, multiply the price by number of sales, it's still a really small number.

Assuming for example, 1.69 (in gbp) and 100 sales, that's only £169, and you lose 30% as you said, bringing that down moreso to the region of £118. Take off about £25 for the GP store signup and that's less than £100 profit in ... Whenever the game originally came out. Since you've made 50 sales ish, halve that number from above.

Even big-name titles only sell about 10k copies like ff9 - £160,000 with 30% off is closer to 110,000.

Really hard to judge from top selling though as it seems to be a lifetime count so even FF9 is on that list vs long-timers like Minecraft.

Hello,

1. Deleted the files that I didn't use like Parallax, Audios and tiles (SF)
2. Yes, it's MV
3. I started making this on November 2015
4. Yes, but I did use some plugins. See credits on my store listing on Google Play

@chayd, congrats on you game!

I have a question: are you planning to release it on other platforms? I'd like to see it on the Windows 10 Platform, since most of the stuff are already in the code.

Hmm this is pretty strange then, since I still don't see it.

Is it region locked?

Omy, you're a Filipino right? Saw the address on the developer portion of the page. Gonna check the demo later and when I like it, gonna buy it. Congratulations btw!

Game itself doesn't appear to be region locked, but Play store will hide things that aren't available in your region.

It's likely that the region that you're in has more titles available that aren't available in chayd's region. Since those apps aren't available in his region, they won't show up when he views Play Store, but they show up for you. The simplest way to put it is, his game reached the top rankings for his given region, but not for other regions or overall.

Oh, so that's how it works.

That's pretty good for smaller devs then, since they have a chance of making it to top 10

@Tsukihime Yep. It's geared pretty well towards emerging markets in mobile, not so much for targeting more the established ones though (US, Canada, Europe, Japan...etc.). If there's any downside, it's that English isn't a primary language in a lot of emerging economies that are now entering adoption of mobile devices and mobile broadband- in many cases, bandwidth and cost are still prohibiting factors (hence products like Android One, Google Free Zone, Facebook Zero...etc.). If you can tailor your game towards these markets (language, small download size, offline functionality, runs on cheaper devices), you've got a pretty good foothold.

Looks good, but games typically display purchases over 24 hours. Still pretty good for a RPG Maker game. I would never sell a game on Android though, I think iOS is starting to shift to iAP model too, most revenue is iAP.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
time for a new avatar :)
