What is the default resolution for RPGMaker VX Ace because I'm aiming to make my game around 1024x768. Then do I have to enlarge the proportions of the interface to match it? Things such as menus / battle systems

By default, Ace gives you a resolution of 544x416. You can resize that up to 640x480.

I don't think it's possible to resize to anything bigger than that, without hacking the exe, which is against the terms of the EULA.

Thanks for the quick response, but if i resize it to 640x480, i'll have to resize the default menu script and etc. to match the new resolution right? or does it auto fix

Yanfly's core script allows you to increase the resolution.

Putting this line into your Main script, just before the rgss_main call, will do it.

Code:
Graphics.resize_screen(640, 480)
Menus will be sized automatically. What won't be resized are images - battlebacks will have a black outline, maps left at the default size might be a little funny, so you'll need to make them large enough (20x15)

I think Zeus81 made a script which creates a window and paints it based on the actual window.

Maybe you can change the game resolution to 512x384 and then use his method to upscale it to 1024x768.

I have played around with the concept myself for RMXP where I tried to create a 720p resolution though I never managed to make it stable.

*hugs*

By default, Ace gives you a resolution of 544x416. You can resize that up to 640x480.

There is a script that uses the windows API to stretch the window to larger resolutions - that could be used without breaking the EULA, but it has other problems:

Stretching distorts the game's pictures, which means that you only get a good picture for multiple resolutions (x2, x3 or so).

For example it would look halfway good if you stay at 1280x960 (double of 640x480 with yanfly's scripts) or 1088x832 (double of basic resolution). I don't think there is a way to get the game to 1024x768 with a good image quality.

Unfortunately I don't have my link list availabe no, that script is somewhere in the master script list if I remember correctly.

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving!
