First of all, I want to make clear that this project will be very intense in some fields. A lot of content has been planned already, but there are some mechanics and minor segments that still need discussion. Those matters must be solved before the actual project development begins. Some of this discussion will require the presence of the whole team, so make sure you got a stable conection and a flexible timetable.
That said, this project will take suggestions from the team members in as many fields as necessary, however, the one that will make the decision regarding what content makes it in and what content doesn't will be me. This means that every time something is finished, it will require my approval.
Talking about the game, Trials of Transcendence is a Turn Based RPG featuring a 6X3 combat grid divided in two 3X3 sections. One belonging to the allied party (formed by a leader and 4 members, all active in combat) and one belonging to the opponents. The number of obtainable allies or "heroes" in this game goes up to 42 not including the main character, each with a passive "leader" skill, only usabe when the character is picked as the party leader, and a "unique" skill, which gives a lot of advantages to the player when used. In several scenarios, the player will have to form several parties to perform different in-game roles in a similar fashion to the "Suikoden" games.
There will be a world map, that will just be featured as a background and won't be traversable, and plenty of area maps that will be traversable and will be where the action takes place. Also, a hub section dedicated to character interaction, stores, missions and a couple more things. Many of the presented characters will have a story that can be followed all the way through the end and will improve the character in some way. It is yet to be discussed how.
Now, the essential places to be filled are the following:
Mapper - Required to craft the area maps and hub. If they have eventing knowledge, said task will rely on them as well.
Spriter - Required to do the sprites and if they have such skills, animations and illustrations.
Scripter - Required to design and implement the required scripts. If they have eventing knowledge, this task will rely on them.
Composer - Which is taken.
In case any of the members above is unable to perform some of the following fields, these will be required as well:
Eventer - Required to design the events that will be part of both the area maps and the hub.
Illustrator - Required to do still images of the 42 characters that will be shown in dialogues and similar interactions.
Animator - Required to do the combat animations of attacks, skills and spells.
"Public relationships" - Required to advertise the game andlie to the consumer design most of the advertising material.
Due to the semi-proffesional requirements of this project, that will be released on steam for free, payment will be offered to the most demanding fields. Namely Spriter, Scripter and Composer if they are able to perform all the required tasks. If the team is larger, however, the payment will be offered to Illustrator, Spriter, Scripter and Composer. This is due to the free nature of this game and my low income. Also, if required and due to my average knowledge in such fields, I will help with mapping, eventing and, due to my graphic designer studies, I will be fully in charge of the PR part.
Also, and since costs will (most likely) be a problem, I am offering my skills as a writer/screenwriter/graphic designer as a service exchange. Not paid, obviously.
With that off the way, I thank you for reading this far. Any and all doubts regarding details of the project that may have been overlooked, omitted or poorly explained will be answered in this post.
