Rpgmaker vx ace won't fully open!

Ok, so this morning I tried to start up rpgmaker and the logo popped up that shows the four poster characters and all but then nothing else happened. After waiting for eight minutes or so I tried ctrl, alt, delete to clear the program but it doesn't show up in my list of active programs... however when I try to boot it up again it says that it is already running (if done through steam) and nothing I can see happens if I try to load up a project folder directly. The only way I can get the logo to go away is to reboot/shutdown my computer, however after trying that trying to open the program again results in the same problem. I've been trying to find answers on google and bing but coming up dry (hopefully because I'm asking the question wrong, not because it's such an obscure problem that no one knows how to fix it) If anyone has any ideas I'd appreciate it, I really want to work on my game before work today.

deinstall and reinstall RPGM to make sure the files themselves haven't been damaged.

If that doesn't help, look for backgrounds program to disable and check if you have enough free discspace left (for virtual memory and temporary resources).

All these things have been done, cleared all background programs that are unessential and have plenty of memory...still nothing. (wish there was at least an error message, could probably find a solution then)

You said steam right?  Verify the game integrity cache.

Right click the game in your library > properties > local files > verify game integrity cache.

It should take a minute or two, but once its done your game should boot.  If this isn't the issue, I'm gonna have to think that you're running windows 8 and its a windows 8 bug.

Do other steam games work?
I had similiar problems when steam had connection problems or when I hadn't confirmed the computer to steam to clear one of their protection systems...

I think, I am having the exact same problem. I noticed however that in my case whenever I start RPGmaker it shuts down steam and then freezes.

Perhaps this is usefull. I would like to see this problem fixed as well, it's kind of annoying if you can't work on your project.

all cases of similiar problems so far appear to have been steam synchronisation issues, which means that they automatically vanish after steam had time to download and synchronise all data.


Try waiting an hour or so while steam downloads in the background

What do you mean by waiting an hour or so while steam downloads? Should we re-download steam?

@Tarzanthecat : Best post a new thread for this, but usually that means wait until Steam fully downloads the files for the engine.
