Hi there,

Not sure where is the best place to post this. But I noticed on both the website here and on steam it says RPGMaker XP "is NOT supported on 64-bit OS" however this doesn't seem to be the case? As it runs perfectly fine for me on Windows 7 64-bit. I've not tested on Windows 10 however. but definately does work on some 64-bit Windows.

Don't quote me on this, @Teabone, but I think it just means they won't provide any technical support for it for 64-bit OSes.

All 64-bit versions of Windows have an emulator to make 32-bit-programs run - but that emulator is not perfect and usually costs a lot of resources. RMXP is just so old that it doesn't need much on resources from current computers.
However, that does NOT mean that a program running in that 32-bit-emulator is the same as a native 64-bit program. The emulator is known to clash with some other background programs exactly because at the moment it starts, the windows is no longer operating pure 64 bit.

Additionally, the entire file structure of windows has changed since WinXP (which is the OS RMXP was developed on - that is why you need to run the setup as admin or you'll be missing the RTP, and why the default project folder is no longer valid and you need to change that manually on first project creation and a few other problems with RMXP on modern systems.

Yes, you can get it to run - but it's a bad running and no one can promise that it will work in every computer.

It's not really an emulator. The CPU has support for 64-bit instructions and 32-bit instructions. When running a 64-bit operating system, it can start programs in 32-bit mode. That is what Windows is doing. It wouldn't even need to use more resources in general. There are still many 32-bit programs in use today. For example Visual Studio is still a 32-bit program.

Of course, there can still be problems running like that. Which is why they don't support it anymore.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
