Im having an issue where my copy of RPGMaker XP wont play MIDI files. Any projects made with XP also do not play their music.
Sound effects still work.
The MIDI files will play if I open them with an external program, like Windows Media Player. But, they wont play through the program itself.
Im running 64-bit Windows 7 Professional
Also, side note, I dont know if VXAce uses MIDI files or not but I can play every audio file that came with VXA by default without an issue.
E: THE PROBLEM IS SOLVED!.
Turns out all I had to do was run RPG Maker XP through compatibility mode for XP SP3. Because Windows 7 doesnt automatically load the MIDI synthesizer on startup like XP did. So applications like Media Player will load the synth, but RPGMXP doesnt load it because it assumes it was already loaded.
