RPGMAKERWEB lag

Not sure why, but the whole rpgmakerweb site, including forums, has been lagging since somewhere between 1-2 pm PST. It takes about 2-10 minutes for a page to load, and even to refresh. I'm having this problem only with this site.

I haven't been noticing any abnormal issues with page load times with the main site (http://www.rpgmakerweb.com/), though I have noticed issues with the forums and the blog since yesterday.

 

At roughly 5:00pm UTC -4:00 (EDT), the forums (http://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/) and blog (http://blog.rpgmakerweb.com/) became inaccessible to me. I attempted to resolve the domains via my main internet connection (with multiple DNS configurations), via SSH proxy through a VPS, and through the Tor Network. All of these points of origin failed. I additionally checked via a web service (http://isup.me/), and it too found the sites to be down. About 30 minutes later (5:30pm EDT), they returned to an accesible state, but were quite sluggish. This continues on until present, as deilin has detailed above.

 

Upon further investigation through a traceroute, I found that the main site and the forums/blog are hosted separately, ending at apache2-yak.soy.dreamhost.com (208.113.206.103). The main site is served via Amazon Web Services, but the forums and blog are hosted by Dreamhost on a server located out of California. There didn't seem to be any issues with me reaching the server, and other sites hosted on it (the same machine) loaded fine (e.g. http://blog.avg.co.jp/). This leads me to believe that it is an isolated issue with RPGMakerWeb, and rules out things like DDOS.

It's a global issue, as far as I can tell. You aren't alone. Anyone trying to access the forums is will encounter the same slowdown.

It's just one of a growing amount of issues. I can no longer attach files, use code, or make links. Most of the time now when I post, nothing happens at all, and have to send it multiple times.

The download manager and several other functions had been disabled and a lot of topics archived a while ago to reduce the high load problems of the server, with the intention to either reactivate or provide an alternative as soon as the main problems were solved.


Unfortunately I don't know how far Degica's admins are into finding a solution, we can only wait...

I have this problem since days now. Main reason why I'm not visiting the forum very often lately or participating in the GMD any longer. It is very annoying and just takes too long to load anything. If it loads at all. Most of the times I'm getting timeout error messages.

I haven't noticed it for "days". It was slow all day yesterday and again today. It's being looked at, so we've just got to be patient and hope the cause can be determined and a solution found.

Actually the lag began for me some time back.  I posted about it and was told that it was because of high usage.  I, too, have found it increasingly bad for the last few days, not just the last 24 hours or so.  

But yesterday (it's Sunday morning for me) was impossible.  Still bad today, but at least things will load up if I wait long enough.

I had a comment post itself 4 times in a row the other day.  I had to hurry and delete the extras...  (except that hurrying has become a long and drawn out process).  I hope things get fixed soon.

There's already a post dedicated to this. It can be found here. It's a known issue with the cause purportedly being looked into so that they may find a way to rectify it.

Yes, we know the site is slow. The issue is being worked on, but it may take some time to resolve.


Complaining about the site being slow is not going to make the site go faster


Please continue to be patient and allow for the extra time needed, maybe being more selective about when/what to post until things are back to normal again.

Seems like today when I reply to a pm message I get a white page that says bad response from server but If i go back to the forum main and then back to the message it did send my reply.

Edit- This is WAY more aggravating than the lag issue.

I'm back from a business trip and have things back to normal, from what I can tell. Apparently I can't leave and have a life outside making the forums work.
