RPGMV.exe declared Trojan Horse by AVG

I'm using the trial version of RPG Maker MV (holding out for Christmas.)

However, an AVG scan just identified RPGMV.exe has a high threat-level Trojan horse. My security scan has automatically "healed" the problems it found. I'm not entirely sure what that means, but MV was running throughout the scan and is still functioning with no problem.

Has anybody else encountered this issue?

Problem with all antivirus programs is that they need to use heuristic scanning, which means that they scan for certain number sequences to identify threats.

However this means that a program can have a data sequence of (non-executable) data numbers that may be similiar but harmless due to never being executed - the computer cannot make a difference between program code and numeriical data, because there is none (you can jump into data, and it will be executed as code if you do this.

That results in false-positives, and the scanners need to be told (either by their programmers or by the user) if such a detection is a false-positive or a real threat.

With new programs, that might take a while - and RMMV is barely more than a month out there...

My copy of MV has been "healed." Do you know if that will be a problem?

I don't know - it depends on what it really did. Most likely part of the data had been removed or reordered. That might cause some errors if that data is needed, which means that there is a chance of mistakes on using the editor.

If you encounter such an error you'll have to reinstall the editor - and hope that by that time, AVG updated their definitions and won't change it again.

I can't be Spiderman. I don't live in New York.

@Andar

No problems so far. Hopefully I won't find any. Thanks for the help.

My antivirus has not produced those warnings (if that's what they are.)

Hello! I would like to know if there are any pluggings or any way to customize how battles look?
I was thinking that when you start the battle for it to appear the eyes of your characters and opponents sorta like Ace Attorney.
Sadly I don't know how that would be possible so I would be needing help! If you can help me in any way I would really apreciate it!
