Synopsis

Set on the floating islands that make up Aethera, Dragon Hearts: A Daughter's Promise is an RPG in which you take control of Isacaiah, a young girl who promised her parents to seal an ancient, mystical crystal. Unfortunately, the crystal was stolen, so she has to venture out and retrieve it first. She will give it her all to get that crystal back and fulfill her duty. It was a promise, after all...

Dragon Hearts: A Daughter's Promise is a short (1-2 hours) rpg featuring a linear story and turn based battles in which you use various skills to defeat your enemies. There is not much in the way of unique features, except for the minor wrinkle that you will be running with a party of one for the majority of the game. The game is not intended to be difficult, but be careful: game overs will happen if you overextend and run out of MP at a bad time.

Characters

MomWv5.png

Isacaiah
A 12 year old girl, and the protagonist of the story. Despite her age, she has an incredibly strong sense of responsibility, and is not very keen on asking others to help fix her own problems.

Gondroch
The antagonist who has stolen the crystal. He is a bit of a nut case and has illusions of grandeur, but his magic is the real deal and that makes him a force to be reckoned with.

Moonlight & Infinity
A pair of masked travellers that Isacaiah meets on her journey. Where they are from and what they are doing is a mystery, but they seem all to eager to involve themselves in Isacaiah's situation.

Some more words

This game was made in RPG Maker MV over the span of ~4 weeks and released for the Release Something Event (RSE) that coincided with the 31st birthday of the RPG Maker series. I really enjoyed making (and actually completing!) this game, so I hope that you guys will get some enjoyment out of playing my game as well.

The plan is that this will be the first in a series of games featuring characters and stories from all over the world of Aethera and beyond, but I admit that that is still very far away. For now, please enjoy this game!

Yisss, if the writing had some tightening up and the battle mechanics wasn't a aha gotcha moment sometimes (those last battles, yikes) I could see myself playing a series of this. It would take some serious balancing though. I typically don't like this type of.....battle style, and it will probably only appeal to a niche, tbh. I do like that it's oldschool turn based though.

The premise, and characters if explored further, I am HERE FOR. Yes, all of my yes. There's some odd choices here and there (like not hearing the MC speak sometimes and yet other times we're allowed??? for example), but overall I was actually left wanting more.

[ISPOILER]Specifically I want more Gondroch.[/ISPOILER][ISPOILER] :kaothx: Unless.......did he die? I hope not, cause he is best boye. I want to draw fanarts of him.[/ISPOILER]

It's nice to see some of my battlers out in the wild! I'm glad people are getting use out of them.

You know.. I... I kinda lost my interest in living a long time ago. What sustains me is a lack of interest in dying.
Like a star that is balanced between the forces of gravity and outward pressure, I feel like the energy to produce that outward pressure is weakening. I feel like I should pull a Stardew Valley and revert to a more primitive lifestyle, away from others. :(
made more sprite for the Time passing game that I may or may not actually make. At least now I have a better idea how to make Rtp Walk sprites actually look wrinkly and old, since the Generator doesn't do that.
Well, now all of my Refreshable Events scripts also feature some brand new demos to let people see how easy it is to let the script handle the refreshing of a given set of events. All of this with just one specific script call per event!
Sorry Kitty...I'm practicing my harmonics. RIP your ears.
I noticed they now have a Gremlins cartoon. Nothing like striking when the iron is hot then trying to make a reboot from a movie made 34 years ago.
