Greetings everyone. I am new to the forum and working on my first game and have a newbie question. If it is answered somewhere else I appologize, I am having trouble navigating the forum on this question.

I have a early proof of concept demo I want to send to a few people I made with RPGmakerVXace and after compling it, was unsure about the RTP.

I notice with a complete file the RTP is visible to anyone who gets the demo and the files in them have no protection on them making it easy for someone to simply copy. I tried the encryption tab but it seems to only make it so the game cannot be modified by another RPgmaker.

Is there a way to make the RTP invisible/uncopyable so it can't be copied by another or for that matter, does it matter if it is visible? (I want to make sure I am not violating any copyrights by giving a demo out where the RTP can be so easily copied from the file)

Thank you for the help.

You're not violating anything by packaging the RTP with your game -- don't worry about it.

You are not allowed to distribute the RTP by itself, but it's okay to include it with a game you've made that uses it.

And unless I'm sadly mistaken about what it does, I think compressing the game bundles the RTP into the RGSS file, so if you compress it and take the option to include the RTP (not sure if that option is actually there in Ace), you're not distributing the RTP as a separate product anyway.

It does and it all becomes one solid .exe, but when they open the exe, the audio, graphics, etc are all sitting there in standard formats (.ogg, .png, etc) that can be easily copied from the file and opened in other applications.

This is the other part that confuses me. Is this the same RTP indicating that it doesn't matter as the makers are distributing it for free anyway?

There is a part of the documentation that indicates you are not to lease, distribute or sell the RTP. I feel this line is confusing as it seems you do exactly this when you distribute the game with the RTP in it.

It's up to the user what they do with the files that are there, not you. You're not doing anything illegal by distributing the RTP in this form to them -- what they decide to do with it is out of your hands and is not your personal responsibility. If they copy the materials that you legally distributed for use with your game, they were in the wrong -- not you.

Wait... I just thought about something. The people you are giving this too have Rpgmaker as well right? If so they should already have the rtp anyway.

No they don't sadly. In fact most of them never even heard of the program until I did a recomendation for the game Corpse Party to them (and I think that game originally used RPG maker 95).

Fair enough, thank you and everyone else here for the help.

The RTP can be freely downloaded by anyone on the official website, it really doesn't matter if people can copy it when you make your game with it. That's what it was intended for, so don't worry :)

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
