Helping with the game development and we are doing some online features...the issue is I have ssl enabled on my site and also rewrites (which pretty much forces https) and the version of ruby in RPG Maker XP is 1.8.1....SSL support for ruby was introduced in 1.8.7....is there any way that we can upgrade the ruby package...

Thanks

I don't think that it's possible to upgrade the Ruby package by yourself in any RPG Maker.
Probably the best you can do is ask that in "Maker Specific" -> "XP" and hope that it gets an update(that's rare for older versions, mainly only the last one get updates, because they "last" [at least, until now it was that way] for 3~5 years, so pretty much every bug will be fixed)

By the way: Have you tested it ? I think that depending on what it asks from the server while running, that there may be no problems.

Although I'm moving this, in my opinion the answer is a clear 'no'. XP will not be updated - the only engine receiving updates now is MV - and XP is written to run on a specific version of Ruby. To attempt to change that would require some form of reverse engineering (if, indeed, even that would work) which is expressly forbidden by the EULA.

So, you can think outside the box a bit here. You won't be updating XP's version of ruby, but you can try to make a make sys call. This just launches another process on the machine, a process like curl (or, Powershell's Invoke-WebRequest. You can of course just write your own program to call.)

Whether or not this is feasible depends on a) whether or not you can use system() from XP (I have no idea and I no longer have any copies of RM installed to test with) and b) what features you're talking about. The performance will be crap because you're creating a process for each request, but if you're implementing something like an auto update feature, it should be fine.

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such? So I was playing with filters and this looked interesting...

Versus the normal look...

Kind of gives a very different feel. :LZSexcite:
To whom ever person or persons who re-did the DS/DS+ asset packs for MV (as in, they are all 48x48, and not just x2 the pixel scale) .... THANK-YOU!!!!!!!!! XwwwwX
