Okay I know that using someones music on a commercial game is completely illegal.


but I still have a question since I am not big on rules. Now, don't get me wrong I haven't been using any music but ones that are meant for me and are authorized for use.


BUT


Say I go to this website and buy a small generic track made by another composer and it's ROYALTY FREE.


could I use said music on my game? Knowing that I would be selling my game with that said music?


Please elaborate.

Depends on the terms and conditions specified by the author. Usually, sites like these dictate how their tracks are allowed to be used. If they're not there, try contacting the artist. They would be more than happy to answer any inquiries, I reckon.

I can't speak for other composers, but for me it's "full credit plus one free copy of game as it appears in store" (meaning no early access, no beta, but the full blown finished polished game. )

As Saltwater Croc said, depends on composers, in my case all the tracks I might share are free for non-commercial projects only.  If you go commercial, you'll either have to pay a small fee or make me want to support your game .


This doesn't include right to edit the tracks and you can't redistribute my tracks outside of your game.


I offer friendlier conditions for commissions of course (which should reopen shortly but that's another story). Of course, credit is required in any case.
