Hi there. I'm trying to make an event run like this:

NPC Speaking Event:
1. Event begins and an NPC begins speaking with the Player.
2. NPC speaks and asks Player to show them that they know how to use an item that increases their HP by 1.
3. Menu opens up automatically and Player selects the item that increases their HP by 1.
4. Item increases the Player's HP by 1.
5. Dialogue box appears saying "Player's HP was restored!"
5. NPC says some more stuff and the event continues

This seems simple enough, except for that the item uses a Common Event, not the simple "Recover HP" function in the effects box, in order to also have the dialogue box appear. Because of this, when the Player uses the item, the HP does not increase until after the "NPC Speaking Event" and more importantly, the dialogue box doesn't pop up until AFTER the NPC is done speaking.

How can I make it so that the game runs the item's Common Event in between the current NPC Speaking Event?

Any and all help much appreciated!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
