ok so i am having a fps or at any rate a video issue. when my game runs full screen i get a "invisible" kinda wave that goes from the top of the screen to the bottom. iv tested this on both my computer screens and my tv. it does it on all of them but when i run the game in window mode it acts perfectly fine and no wave can be seen. can anyone tell me if there is a solution to this or what the problem might be?

What type of monitor do you have?

A TFT Monitor or one of the older (and larger) CRT-Monitors?

I've seen the effect you're describing only with old CRT monitors - if my assumption about the cause is correct, then it can't be a TFT because on a TFT that effect would be physically impossible.

And if you have that effect on an older CRT, then the frequency settings are wrong...

sorry I should have been more specific I put the game on both my laptops lcd and my tv lcd.. im not really sure whats going on. It happens at different times on each screen I use. there seems to be no consistency. the only constant thing is that, if the map is the same size as the screen and the map does not have to move it wont happen. but as soon as the map has to move the line shows up. also it does not happen all the time I turned off one of my computers and reset it and the lines werent there. later when I went back into the game the line started up for no reason. I made sure to test this on a blank map with nothing except dirt and a wall to make sure it wasent an effect or something like a parrelel process or what ever. im honestly lost as to the cause. hopefully this helps if you need more info or I wasent clear enough let me know

Are you using a script to switch between full screen and windowed? Is your game running in the default resolution or have you changed it to a higher/larger resolution?

Are that two different laptops or are you referring to a single laptop with one build-in and an external LCD?

What is the CPU speed and the graphic card manufacturer of the laptop(s)?

Your second description does indicate a problem with the speed of the computer or graphics card - that it needs more time than usual tu update the screen, and as a result you see the actual pixels change with the delayed update.

If this doesn't happen directly after a reboot, but only when the computer has run for some time, then there is a background program that eiter kicks in later or requires more resources the longer the computer is on, until it slows down RM.

It might also be that the laptops are attempting an update that fails, because the computer also becomes slower while running an MS update or a Virusscan in the background - but if that update fails for some reason and is attempted again and again, that also blocks a lot of the computer's resources.

If you post CPU-Speed, RAM-size and Graphics manufacturer, then I can estimate if it can be one of those problems or not.

Make sure your graphics drivers are up to date. this is not a very demanding program resource-wise but sometimes settings within drivers can cause compatibility issues. update your drivers if possible, or rollback to a previous version.

Sounds like your having whats called "tearing" which can be cured with a "v-sync" option in most cases, however that cannot be applied to this program so, check out your drivers

also have you tried setting the programs priority to high or realtime?

My Graphics drivers are up to date

however I did set the  priority to high

ok so you were right. I went in and turned off a bunch of programs running at startup. over all just cleaned both computers.

so now my main computer is set to high priority and not to many processes are running in the backround. I have not seen the line at all so apparently this has resolved the issue. Im still having the problem on my old computer but hey the thing is 5 years old so w/e.

thanks for all the help guys

as always this forum is awesome
