I've moved this thread to RGSS2 Script Requests (VX Scripts is for completed scripts that you are sharing). Please be sure to post your threads in the correct forum next time. Thank you.

Can't you just load the file in the game and use debug (F9) to change things? If not, you need to specify what you need to be able to do, instead of just "save editor".

It can be if you understand how the .rvdata2 files are created... but IDK if doing that is acceptable...

if it's just for developer tools, I think what Shaz' said is the way to do it...

but if its for modifying an existing save-file for most probably editing your char stats etc for a game you're playing, that's another matter which I personally think is not a good idea and might not be acceptable to the terms too...

Well maybe a script that can modify stats,item,etc... in-game and save it is acceptable.

if it modifies in-game, he can easily do it for his own game... but I think what he is looking for is an external save editor which can open the save files and edit them...

You can always use Yanfly Debug Extension.  It allows you to give yourself databased items/equipments, easily manage switches/variables in-game, test any battle troop from anywhere in-game, force-run any current map events, and set common events to keyboard hotkeys to easy-access.

Of course it's for test-plays only.   There's a version for both VX and Ace.

What will the save editor be used for? If you want to cheat at games you can use cheat engine for that no need to some special save editor.

I was searching for a solution to my problem and since the need for the save editor hasn't been explained by

, I'll explain my need. I need a script or some other means that allow me to save certain data (in my case switches and variables) that load automatically when I start a game without the need to load a whole game. To be certain: I develop a game with multiple endings that I want them to be collected (picture/text form) on a special map that can be accessed via an extra button that I put into the title screen. My idea is that when an ending is activated, a switch is turned on, and the game goes back to the title screen. The switch indicates the ending and displays it in the "collector" map. The problem is that when you exit, the switches are reset. Any ideas?

You could just write your own fileIO system to save and receive data from a .txt file.  Its really not very tricky, and the fileIO will give you the ability to tack on data to whatever files you want in whatever form you want.  It may take a little practice to get the hang of, but its really useful, and you can edit them from notepad if you like.

When it comes to complicated save changes, if I can't just Marshal dump the files I may need to get creative.

Text files make it easy to manipulate via external sources. I make tools to edit the data from an external source such as a C# app for item add-ons, extra pasted scripts, and so on.  Then I use the .txt and a simple algorithm to rip the data out of it however I need it.

This makes it possible to load certain data without loading the whole save, or load the whole save before extracting this data, or you could change the way the save loads beforehand, or you can set a fork to reload if you select a different option, etc.

Download ReStaff Resource Jan 2013, Fomar's persistent data script should be able to do what you want.
I haven't tested it myself, but it would probably be a good start for something like this.

Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
