Saving/Item RPG maker ace

O.k so i am relatively new to the RPG maker and the first thing i want to work on is my save system, and i have not really found anything that helps me for what i am looking for. So what I want to do it remove saving constantly as i feel it takes away from learning from you mistakes since you can save at any time. I also however dislike the idea of save points especially seeing what a lot of people particularly adults have with them is that they can be few and far between and a lot of adults do not have much free time on their hands. So what i really want to do is make an item that saves your games for you. Think an item somewhat similar to the tent in the tales series that heals you and lets you save at that point. Minus the healing aspect of it. It will be consumable but purchasable at vendors so it does not harm the player if they use to many. I am not sure if this was the right forum to post in since i am new if any mods would let me know if it was wrong and which one to send it to i will.

Look for the tutorials on save points as a reference, but you'll do something slightly different.


As with the savepoints, you disable save menu access.


But instead of making map events to call the menu manually, you'll make an item that calls a common event when used, and that common event should contain the command to open the save screen.


That should be all - if you have problems with that, post a screenshot of the item and the common event and we can tell you how to correct it.

So out of curiosity can you post a link to the actual save points mechanic i have been looking for a good hour searching pretty much every key term, and only found the tutorial about removing saving but nothing on save points themselves.

ok nvm i got the item to work now but thnks for letting me know about the common event thing.

That is because that is extremely easiy - just one command.
Third page of the event commands, top left group, fifth command "open save screen"


That will work even if the menu access to the savescreen is disabled.


There is a reason why I said in my starting point (link in signature) that everyone should take a day or two off from their game project to explore the editor with all of its buttons and right-click options - there are so many of those that you need to test them to remember them when you need them later ;-)

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
