Introduction
Ever wanted a script that dynamically can scale the resolution of your game without having to have a preset resolution? Now you can! Just develop your game around a range of resolutions and this script will take care of the rest, allowing it to look better on higher resolutions and still playable on the smaller ones.

Make sure to place this above Yanfly's Core Engine.

Supported Resolutions
Any resolution is supported, you can configure your game to be 720P or 1080P compliant. It will downscale your game to fit your player's resolution. There's no need to have an option, since it works dynamically behind the scenes.

Terms
Feel free to use it for whatever you wish, credit Helladen. If your game is highly successful, consider making a donation. it would be much appreciated. :)

You can get it here.

Nice!

I didn't use yanflys resolution change anyway for various reasons, but this one is quite simple and effective for my needs.

Perfect! Thank you.

Yanfly's Resolution script is if you don't use the Core Engine. He has where it won't work if it is installed, which works out for me since most RPG Maker users use that script. :)  I may add more aspect ratios in the future, or maybe add compatibility for the options menu to select your own resolution.

New version is out! :)

After doing further testing, I found out that it doesn't draw more tiles with the higher resolution. So I am adding a new parameter, where it will draw more tiles with resizing or just scale the game resolution to fit. The new parameter is off by default. So it will draw more tiles and not just rescale the resolution.

The default smallest resolution is 1024x576. That means if you choose to rescale to fit, it will upscale it automatically to the resolution it detects.

It's an amazing script. I tested out and it works fine in my windows project.

Does it work on mobile projects?

No, I would need to see the proper devices to support under mobile and do further tests. I will expand this to a full blown script that will handle all RPG Maker resolution in the future. I plan to do this for my game and just sharing the script with everyone here since there's a lot of free stuff, felt like it would give as much back as possible.

An awesome script, and one I'm even using right now. However, a few things I'd like to add is that you should allow for resolution changes in the options and maybe even let devs add in new resolutions or something but this works pretty nice.

Update Screen Manager to 1.0.3.

  • Add support min/max resolution parameter. Meaning you can set the max size you want your game to be displayed and at the minimum resolution.
  • Added fullscreen parameter option, to enter fullscreen.
  • Bug fixes.

Rescale may not work properly in a mobile device as a fair warning. Make sure to test it and let me know. As a side note, rescale is optional which will stretch instead of draw more tiles.

It doesn't really go to the desired resolution unless you make it go fullscreen. (Aka, there's no borderless window option) Without going fullscreen, it only scaled my resolution to 1904x1001 instead of 1920x1080 that I had put as max resolution. Regardless, it's pretty sweet. :)

There's no way to do that, without fullscreen. Borderless window is fullscreen in RPG Maker. There's not much I can do to fix this, there's some limits in the window manager, which RPG Maker uses which cannot use the fullscreen width of your monitor.

I figured that'd be the case, shame.

- Fixed window always going to fullscreen.

1.04b
- Added compatibility with Yanfly Core Engine. Please paste this above all scripts.

1.05
- Added DPI support! Set the param to whatever your DPI is. It will scale it! This does not detect DPI, it is meant for developers until I figure a way to properly detect it automatically.
- Removed param rescale, it was not needed.
- Bug fixes.

1.0.6
- Bug fixes.
