Script error?

so, hi.

I bought Rpg Maker Vx Ace some hours ago and this came up now. What do I need to do?

Have you added any scripts? If so chances are one of them is missing an end. If not, try to reinstall the game so the scripts reset to the default, as you may have accidentally deleted a line in the default scripts (I know I did when I was first starting out...took forever to figure out why it was happening!).

You don't need to re-install the whole thing. Just create a new project and use the script from it. Just copy and paste it.

Making a new project will use the default scripts.

Not always true. When I first started out I managed to corrupt the default scripts so that even new projects were crashing (with nothing on them but one tile of grass at the start).

Heh as I'm actually working on that myself, I have no Idea yet. I'm currently studying how all the scenes and windows work, but I haven't figured out everything quite yet. Either way you will have to either use a custom script or edit the default ones (which I do not recommend)

@bg then you must have messed up big time, because I don't think you can actually screw up the default scripts from the editor

Okay ^^ I'm not new-new to Rpg Maker Vx Ace but, still kinda new to it, hah ^^

That takes a script to make the gold go away. If just starting out I'd say leave it alone for a while until you get the hang of the program, and just note that someday you'd like to make it go away. Trying to add 563664 scripts on day 1 is an invitation for disaster  (especially if not careful), as scripts can conflict with each other.

@bloodmorphed: Yeah, no idea how I did that. Maybe I somehow corrupted the master file where the game was stored at? Either way, I got it to go away but it took a while to figure out.

@Jacita: Please make a new topic for a new problem, to keep this forum sorted. Modifying the menu scripts has nothing to do with your original script error, so I'm closing this one.


Please search the forum - there have been a dozen users who asked how to change the engine for single-actor only, and one of them might have gotten the answer you need.
