Hi.  I have a Script request involving dialog in the next boxes.

Basically, I'm searching for scripts that'll list the name of the character (player or NPC) separate of the main text box.

I searched for a script in other sites and cannot find it.

I even tried to use DubeAlex's AMS, but every time I tried to play it to test it out, RMXP crashed.

And the link to Ccoa's UMS is broken.

So, basically, I am seeking a script that'll put a character's name above the text box of the dialogue.  Just that particular script is needed (for now).

Thanks for any help.  And I apologize in advance if this issue has been resolved earlier--I didn't see it on the request list as "solved" or "resolved" or whatever.

Have you tried downloading the UMS from here?

You do need to be logged in.

If you're still having trouble, Magykmagus posted scripts, one which includes name windows.

I downloaded the zip file by Magykmagus, but the zip folder would not open.

If I need to I'll register for the other forum.  But all I need is just the script for separate name tags.

I can open it without any trouble. Do you have WinRar or WinZip on your computer?

I could open zip folders without a file (Windows 7 could usually open, as well as make, zip folders), but not this one.  Suppose I might need WinRar?

Well, specifically, every time I double-click it, I get an error message that says that the folder is invalid.

Try WinRar, that should work and is free.

It could also be that your download was damaged - if winrar doesn't help, post the filesize to compare and try to redownload it.

I even downloaded WinRar and it's a no go.  The file's probably damaged.

The file size I got from the download is 98.7 KB.  Size on disk for some reason is 100 KB.  Suppose the file might be corrupted?

Have you tried downloading the file again?

I downloaded it multiple times, and each time it was a no go.

I've been able to download it (and open it) multiple times today :/

No idea what's causing it for you.

Edit: At this point in time you might as well, just make an account and download ccoa's UMS.

Okay, I joined GD Unlimited and got CCOA's UMS.  It works great--I'm trying it out.  Thanks.  I'll be sure to use the name box... and keep it to see other scripts that I might need in future projects.  And I tip my hat to CCOA.

I kinda have a some sort of a same problem... I got the files and everything, I extracted and put most of the folders into the correct folders. But I don't know where to put the "screenshot" folder.

They're not supposed to go anywhere @Julio Gonzalez. They're just there to show you what's possible. You don't need them for the scripts.

Ok, thanks. I have another problem. As the opening screen shows, "New game" and "Continue" title... The fonts arent shown on the title screen. Even the menu font wont appear. Pretty much any font wont show up. Should I screen shoot it and show it to you? Or do you know what I have to do?

To change the font go to Main in the script editor and you'll see this line:

    Code:
     Font.default_name = 'Calibri'

Change Calibri to whatever font you want.

If this is not working I need more info: Haye you changed anything else in the scripts? Have you add other scripts?

Before I start doing/changing anything. Do I HAVE to change the font? Or are you saying that the font changing is optional? I'm a little confuse since I said that NO font is appearing on the title at all.

So what I did is.. I copy the script on the file and replace the default script on the program's file. Then I took the other files from the "Graphics" and "Picture" folder, (except the screenshot folder since you told me that they dont go anywhere,) copy those files and paste them in the correct default's folders, replacing the file that needed to be replaced. I didnt do anything else to the new script. I dont even know if I could add more than one script.  If I could, I'd like to know where in the forums to do that also. (Since I also want a script to add storage inventory.)

No, you don't have to change it. I read "The fonts aren't showing up" as "I'm trying to change the font and it's not showing up."

Do you have the font Calibri installed on your computer? If not, you can either install it, or change the font as I described above to one you do have installed.

Do I have to go to a website to download Calibri? Also, I edited my last comment, it tells you what i did before. To make things clear, did the new script changed the font from the default font? because if it did, and if I didnt have the font installed... Then I understand the problem with the fonts.

Yes, the default font for RMXP projects is Arial, but this script changed it Calibri.

And yes, just google it and download it from a website if that's what you want to. (As I said above, you could just change the font to something else.)
