I am wondering if it is possible to have a script that would disable video card drivers. Nvidia has a horrible screen flickering problem and some AMD cards when you exit the game causes issues with dancing pixels and screen resolution. I was wondering if it is possible to have scripts temporarily shut these drivers down and when the game is closed starts the drivers back up.

IDK of any, but IMO, disabling the drivers are not a good idea...

Because this game appears to power from the CPU mostly I would assume it wouldn't hurt. Manually disabling the drivers always seems to fix the problem but not everyone who will be playing my game will be tech savvy ;)

you can maybe add instructions for that, at least until you find a way... maybe try looking for a DLL that does that

You should NEVER make games or applications that fiddle with the drivers. What happens if your game crashes half way through, or the player closes it using Alt_F4? How do the drivers get re-enabled?

If you were making a commercial game and looking for distributors, a number would not take your game if it manipulates the OS.

and also, are you the only one having that problem? and it could be something like incompatibilities and such... most games will just list the incompatible/glitchy cards instead of overriding the drivers...

then there's also the chance of the player running another app while playing your game... and if that one happens to be reliant on the graphics driver, then it would bug...

I don't get these problems. About half of my testers reported this problem to me. I found that going into the compatibility settings and disabling desktop composition is another alternative to the fix.

Just for your info:

If you disable the graphics driver, then you'll get a black screen...

The graphics driver isn't there only for 3D, it handles everything that's on the monitor, including the regular desktop.

There are default drivers that allow windows to function without having the correct driver installed, but those don't activate automatically - so if you disable the current graphics driver, you get a disabled windows and have to reboot.

windows 7 and 8 kicks those default drivers on when it notices the the gpu stops functioning. Anyway, I found a way to fix it without resorting to shutting the driver off so I can request a close. =)

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
