So I'm new to this and I'm not entirely sure how the script requests work. If you need more information or I need to change something please tell me.

So basically I have been looking around for a script that would allow the player to "overhear" NPC chatter. Here are some specifics:

1. The chat window for each NPC be positioned over that NPC.

2. The chat windows to be able to be partially viewed. Meaning, even if the NPC isn't on the screen yet I would like to be able to see the first sliver of the chat window, and as you move closer you can see more of what they are saying. If this isn't possible (I have no idea if it can be done or not) please say so.

3. I would like the player to be able to freely move while these chats are going on.

4. The windows would need to be timed to go away after a certain period of time with no user input.

Also, if you can think of a way that this can be done without a script, please don't hesitate to tell me. :)  I don't have much in the way of money but I can pay if it isn't too expensive. Thank you in advance.

There are scripts for pop up windows, you might be able to use those to achieve what you want.

You can do that without a script too:

Try this tutorial:

and use

$game_map.events[1].x

$game_map.events[1].y

etc to set the windows x y to be the same as the event on map

So, setting it to the events x and y sets it to the x and y position of my screen rather than the x and y of the map. Am I doing something wrong here or is that how it works?

Heh xD Tried it. Now the window just doesn't show up.

Edit: If I change it from a parallel to action button event the box does show up. However I need the box to show up once the player gets within a certain range. Is that possible?

screen_x and y shows the x y position of the event on screen.

normal x y shows the tile x y position of the event (which works differently).

if you want it to be range specific, you will either need to event a line-of-sight event or use a range radar script.

With  my own conditional checking of the players location I got it to work parallel. Thank you for the help :)) I couldn't have gotten it to work without you <3.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
