Hello everyone! As someone who is slowly going through the tutorials (I just learned how to tint screen - exciting!), I find myself eyeing Scripts nervously. Everyone talks about it, bandying around names as if they were legends: Yanfly, Victor, and so on.

And I find myself wondering, when the time comes, which script should I install first (while sweating in my chair)?

I'm not asking how to install a script. I'm sure I will reach that part of the tutorials soon. But I'm curious to hear from everyone what is the ONE script that made them fall utterly in love with the game-making process, that script you can't bear to be without, the script that made something in your head go Ding and you went, "Aha!" before running off to dance with the camels.

So how about it? Anyone care to share the experience of that first love? :)

Uhm, the default scripts... the ones that come with RM... XD

Which script you gotta install first will depend on what script your first come across as something that you need...

I know, I'm basically asking, what's the script YOU first fell in love with ;D The one that you think made your game look super awesome/pretty.

Well, since the only one so far that I finished?/released was the chicken games, then it's gonna be my very own Projectile script... XD

Yeah, don't get scripts just for the sake of getting scripts and because everyone else is using them. Work out if your game is missing something, see if it can be added without scripts, and then resort to scripts. People who add scripts just because everyone wows over this system or that, and it'd be cool to have it even though it adds nothing to the game, end up with dozens of scripts (honestly - I've seen a project with nearly a hundred extra scripts) and are BOUND to have problems with compatibility or configuration.

Everything you add to the game is one more thing that COULD break it.

On the other hand, the basic Yanfly scripts are general improvements for the game interface that I would say are good for all games (unless you can modify it yourself).

Projectile? ...For some reason I had an image of someone spitting chickens at the enemy.

Sound advice, Shaz. I'm already nervous about adding scripts as it is. This post is mostly a candid one asking people which scripts they are fond of ;D

That's a good point, bugfixes. I wasn't aware the engine had them. Is Yanfly a must have then?

You should install the ones that provide more event-related functionality to give yourself more solutions to think about.

Yanfly's Ace Core Engine contains his bug fixes, so yeah, in my opinion a must have.  With that installed, other scripts which depend upon it will then be a possibility.  But even if you put nothing else in, a basic bug fix is, I think, a necessity.

Oh, and with a simple change, you can alter the screen resolution to 640x480, which may not be earth-shattering, but is so much better than the default size.  So if I had to answer your title, then I would say that for me this is the script for that very reason.

Thank you (belatedly), everyone, for your awesome replies. I am a little less afraid of installing scripts now ;D

To me, Galv's Menu Themes Engine and Yami's Battle Symphony are two of the best things ever created for RM.

The huge amount of customization of these two scripts is simply amazing.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
