Hello MV community. On a brand new project with no plugins, battle damage wait time and wait time between turns is very well paced and fun. The problem is my main project the damage wait time and turn wait time seems about 2x slower. I have no idea what is causing this. Even removed all plugins. If you have an idea please post.

Since the timing works great on the new project, this is not a hardware or software issue.

SOLVED: turns out there was no defect in either project. enemies who are killed in 1 hit die. their death animation was set to instant so that was not the issue. The problem was when enemies die, the battle log holds up progress a whole second to tell you the enemy is slain. I do not like how this stock battle log holds up killing time like that but also do not like how Yanfly Battle Core just deals mass spell damage at one time. will definitely be looking for a fix.

Are you playing the game, or just using battle test?  When you removed the plugins, did you save the project before testing?  If you're just using battle test (via the Troops tab), it will only show things that have been saved - any changes you've made since last saving the project, will not be reflected.

Also, have you made any changes to the scripts yourself, separate from plugins?  That sounds like something that would be easy enough to do simply by modifying one or two lines of code in the base scripts, rather than needing a plugin.

If you're using Yanfly's CTB plug-in, I've been having the same troubles.

The only way I was able to fix that problem was when I deactivated the plug-in entirely. (Though, as it turned out non-default battle systems don't work with my game because of one of the mechanics. Apparently you can't use summons with ATB. Glitches because it has a hard time figuring out the speed of their gauge. That said, I didn't even start the summoning mechanic until after I found the problem with Yanfly's CTB.)

Hello and thank you both for the quick replies.

Running the game by save then playtest. As far as I know I have not changed any script. To be certain I copied all of the project files from the fully functioning new project and overwrote all of the old project files on a clone project that is still slow. Mind = blown.

If you're using Yanfly's CTB plug-in, I've been having the same troubles.

I did use Yanfly CTB plug-in just to try it out. Unfortunately I have removed all plug-ins from this slow project and it is still slow. I will investigate this CTB plug-in a bit more and perhaps bring this question to the CTB thread.

Is it ALL battles or just some?  If you create one of the default enemies (slime) and troops (slime * 2) - in fact, copy them over from the functioning project to make sure you get everything exactly the same, does it still happen in that battle?

If you can't figure it out, you could try copying all your files into the new project and see if the problem then happens in that one or not. If it doesn't, you can continue to develop that project, adding back your plugins one by one and testing to see if any of them re-introduce the issue.

Thank you Shaz it is now fixed and once I understand how exactly I will annotate the original post.

The mass copy earlier must not have truly been done. The exact file causing the lag is Data > Enemies.json

I do not understand why this is causing problems, I will be sure to find an Enemy tutorial if one exists.

If you can't figure it out, you could try copying all your files into the new project

just report your first post and add a note to the report asking the mods to lock the thread.

I don't see how that file can cause lag.  It's just a plain text file.  How many enemies do you have?  Do you have a whole stack of notes for them, for the plugins you were using?

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
