Hi there, my name is Lee. I'm a freeware software developer, founder of Lee-Soft.com. I was developing my own RPG Engine (LEngine) on and off for a few years now until I discovered RPG Maker about a year ago. After downloading the trial and doing all the tutorials I realized all the features I could imagine plus more are already in RPG Maker and well polished so I discontinued my engine's development and started studying RPG Maker MV and VX Ace and in more detail. I have a degree in Games Technology Bsc and some background knowledge in software development plus a few years coding in various languages.

My friend and I have been writing some narrative for a RPG game based on our Dungeons and Dragons sessions. My friend is more of a writer than I am and he's been helping to structure these ideas a little. I know how easy it is to romanticize your own ideas so I'd really appreciate some honest feedback on some of the ideas we have. It's still early days however and I'm prepared to spend some serious time to develop these ideas. I'm not really a graphic designer; my experience is mostly in coding. The tools in RPG Maker are really great and if I can't find someone to help with sprites and tiles the stock stuff will be fine. I want to keep the game freeware, like my existing software.

Where is an ideal place to post here to get started?

If you're looking for graphics that fit the D&D type game world of your narrative, check out the Enterbrain's Storefront for these graphics packs by Jesse of 'PV Games':

High Fantasy Megapack - This one includes a combination  of his [High Fantasy packs  1 & 2 ] combined for a lower price.

- High Fantasy Pack 1

- High Fantasy Pack 2

- Monster Legacy Pack

- The Deep

- Mythos Pack

All of these Packs includes tons of resources including - Face sets, Frontview  battlers, premade animated battlers with 13 poses, npc characters of several different races

including elves, dwarves, dragons, drows and many more that would take up a full page to type out - tilesets to create your own maps, object charcter sets such as battering

rams and much, much more.

NEW: High Fantasy Set exclusively created for Rpg Maker MV in High Def. Look up his webpage to get a glance at his work to see if you like it - pvgames.com or check out

the snapshots in the enterbrain store which will give you a detailed list to what is in each pack.

I personally prefer the more 'Adult' type D&D graphics myself and has purchased all of his stuff as my games are more in the vein of the old 'Black Isles' games, but if you're

into more of the anime style there are some excellent art packs for sale also along with tons of free stuff contributed in the resource section by some of the best artists on

the web!

Good Luck with your game.

Heya, welcome to the forums.

If you're lacking the requirements for an "early project" thread then you'll want to look in a few of the sub forums to post ideas for feedback.

In the "Game Development" forum, you'll find several sub forums that are catered towards game design in a number of areas. Check out the pinned forum rules before you create any new threads as in some of these subforums they want any discussions to be open ended concepts and not specific topics catered exclusively to your game.

To get you started...

Game and Map Screenshots is where you can post screen grabs of your game for feedback and provide feedback to others.

Plot and Character Feedback is a good starting point to tread water with ideas and concepts. Just remember it's a shared thread so you'll want to keep your posts to the point and try to provide a bit of feedback to other people as well.

Features Feedback is where you can talk about gameplay and mechanics. Same deal as the plot and character feedback.

If you want to get specific feedback or have a dedicated thread for your game then you'll want to review the early project link I shared earlier and do what you can to reach that point. Get a topic in queue for approval (it takes a bit, so be patient ^_^) and then you can go from there.

Cheers!
