Hello There!

I have a question about selling and accounting.

Firstly, can I sell the game that I made in RPG Maker? For about 4€?

Secondly, is there a way to implement an account login? Like when someone buys a game only his accoutn can login the game and play? (aka Minecraft has when you start the launcher and you need to login), because I don't want someone buying the game and then sending copies to their friends.

Sooo, if the the account login isn't available, is there a way I can get it on Steam and sell it there?

Yes, you can sell your game.

I'm not sure why you want an account login? Most (if not all) commercial RM games uses keys to activate the full product.

Anyway, yes you can sell your game on Steam if it has been greenlit. You need to pay a fee to get your game on there though.

1) yes, as long as you have the rights to use all the materials you used in the game (in the case of the default RTP and the shop resources, you gain those rights when you buy them - if you use resources from the internet, you'll have to check the artists Terms of Service or contact him/her).

2) no, because all regular RM-Games are local only, there is no internet connection in them.

To prevent someone from sending copies away, you'll need a DRM-Server. If you plan to sell through one of the internet gaming portals, those usually provide the DRM for you, but you have to pay them for this (either in cash or in percentage of each sale).

Tip:

There is a forum area for commercial games here, read through the topics and tutorials there because they are intended to help you sell your game.

Thank you both!

One question, does Desura come with DRM-Servers?

Oh and I used only the preinstalled sounds, music, images...

I did not add anything, nor I did download any user created packages.

Might i ask how much the fee might be? and is that for all games or just games for a price. so if i want to offer my game for free would i still have to pay the fee?

I'm not sure about it, if your game's free, but for a commercial games the one-time fee would be $100.

Just to make sure that there is no misunderstanding:

That fee of 100$ is to get a program on Steam Greenlight to sell it later on Steam.

Other game portals have different fees, and in all cases you're paying for the services to sell your game.

No fee is needed for distributing a game on your own website (no matter if commercial or non-commercial), but on your own homepage you are also responsible for everything yourself (including DRM or setting up a payment service if you plan to sell it on your own homepage.

That  is a big fee for me right now, especialy if the game is free. i should look into that ....

iKiwy was there a fee for desura?

And you might also want to  look into GOoog old Games to see if they will sell it , sure it is not an "old"game , but it has all the asthetics of one.

Has all the details, do know that  GOG (Good Old Games) is the master in DRM free....

If the game is free, why are you interested in logins to ensure only certain people can play it?

Edit: Oh - you're not the OP.

People seem to be on the down of late. Must be the changing of the seasons or something.

WITH THAT SAID, I WOULD LIKE TO PROMOTIONICE THAT MY GAME, CROWNING LEGACY TRADEMARK, WILL ALSO INCLUDE CHANGING SEASONS, NOW WITH 100% LESS DEPRESSION!

It was fun while it lasted, but guess it's time to say goodbye to my antidepresants. My body is immune to their good effects and only bad effects would remain.
