It's 6AM, too tired to write long post in english, here is a bottom part of a tree I blocked in just now, I'll work on the details tomorrow ... or today technically.
I also drew some less interesting things, such as prettier grass transitions and and a tile layout base. Basically I'm done with the grass, for now.

Godnatt.

Now, look who's gotten herself a cold. No rolled "ARRR"s for me today.
Sorry, too much headache to intelligibly reply to anyone right now. Good thing I always write down my progress after I did it. x_x
Today's goal: Wrap myself in a blanket and sleep.
Progress, 18th:

  • while going through some of Yael's face's iterations that didn't make it, I noticed one particular configuration that came close to my mental image of Ashanah. I tweaked the facial features a bit and changed her colours. I almost forgot that she's the type who says something rude or nonsensical simply to find out people's reactions to it, so of course she'd throw me off my established workflow
  • more Ashanah thumbnail sketches. Still not quite happy
  • asked a friend of mine about weapons and got some answers that helped me with decision-making regarding the characters

Not doing much at this time. My blood is quite thin. I feel quite dazy and can't concentrate much. Everthing's blurry. Looks like I'm getting more blood at the hospital again this month.

My Update:
Finished the boss battle and the game's very first boss. Comparing to the old version, even though this one is stuck in near-development hell (reboot loop), I'm still pleased with the result lol.

@R4B : Grass. This one seems nice, is it inside a forest ? Due to the blueish/dark greenish tone ? As for your tree, maybe you should add some grass on the visible roots, because it seems like it is floating.

@AceOfAces_Mod : Skills to slimes ? Nom nom ? Regeneration ? Damage reflection ? Solidification to attack ?

@BlackRoseMii : At least you're back to the main project ^^

@Marquise* : Well indeed she must not have liked being stuck on the balcony, cats can be grumpy sometimes :D

@Chiara : Take care, and cure that cold !

@luzi : Okay, they clearly seem more dangerous than my tiny robots, but I'm drawing them in 32x48 size, unlike yours ^^

My update :

- I'm done with proper escape systems, battle sprites and double-way teleports until mission 6.

- The military base in mission 4 is now correctly damaged at the first floor, and there is some kind of smoke that comes along.

- Chairs are functional in the 6th mission too.

- I had to take care of some events blocked by the chairs, since we cannot just walk of them anymore ^^

Tomorrow I should work on mission 7 to 9, and I'll finally be able to work on the new missions ! Yay \o/

Small update, though internet is sluggish so I won't be able to do replies to everyone this time. So, congrats on all the progress so far, and hope everyone gets to feeling better soon!

9.17 - 9.19 Update: Managed to do a quick playthrough of Chapter 4 while resting for the night, and fixed a few typos and graphical errors. Nothing too exciting, though Chapter 4 should have a few less bugs now.

Update

I can't really do the details on the leaf part yet as I still don't have my tablet, so until then I'll have to do with this, which doesn't fit the art style at all ... It does look kinda nice though.

Schlangan: Well, that was basically just a sketch. Blocking is like the pixel art equivalent of sketching, it's a messy first draft of the sprite before doing all the detail work; Like grass.  :D

@R4B nice detailing!

@everyone... Well true, I have to fight with her to feed. At least I can sometimes still bring up the old deal between us I dine You dine! Well, after Monday we'll see if she's really sick (extermondays tended to make me feel queasy and not hungry. Hope it ain't a transfer! Especially that we aren't to spend 8 hours outside!

Progress

I'd almost eat on the floor! Not just to encourage mommy cat eating up. just because I mopped!

And while the floors dried or I ate some snack -after battling mommy cat so she ate too-, I got more rules typed down for my kind of PBEM RPG!

Stupid cold is still not gone. Thought patterns are fuzzy and can't really focus. Just can say yay progress to those who progressed, get well soon to those who also are feeling unwell, and yay in general to everybody else.

Progress, 19th:
I noticed that I might be really bad at this resting thing.

  • went through the story, made a list of some plotholes I noticed, marked the places on which I think flashbacks could be appropriate and divided the story into workable chunks to which I'll add some details one day
Progress, 20th:
And I mean, really, really bad.

  • 17 variations for Ashanah's hair and headbands and stuffs (16 + one variation since I found part of one too interesting for only one version), which I then reduced to a selection of 8. The next step would be pretty vs practical vs would the character even bother with this. But I came one step closer to her colour scheme. It includes violet, cyan and a yellow-ish orange
Then I grabbed a book to force myself to lie down and rest for the remainder of the day and noticed how much better some books become when you read them for the second time.

And now it's Monday again, time to check the week's goals and set new ones.
Last week's goals:

  • get Sheireth's design done //done.
  • either start with the next design afterward or throw some environment sketches in between //did both.
  • more non-visual work on characters and story //done.
This week's goals:

  • get Ashanah's design done
  • more sketches
  • more writing down of story-related things

@bgillisp : Yeah debugging is sometimes boring, but mandatory. I always picture what my character thinks while doing that, like "Why am I sitting on ALL the chairs in the base, and checking if I can leave them from left, right, front or back ?!"

@R4B : I like your tree, and I didn't notice the "blocking" word, that's why ^^

@Marquise* : Good luck for extermonday !

@Chiara : Good to see your cold left. A few days and you'll be back in top shape !

My update :

- Mission 7 and 8 are now properly configured with the proper escape system, double-way teleports, and the enemies have correct battling poses now.

- I fixed a potential bug in mission 8, where the boss could become unreachable during the command console puzzle.

- Mission 7 took more time than I expected, wince I decided to properly redraw the giant sand wolf in the desert. Before it was just a picture x2 of the normal wolf, now it is better :D

- Finally I wanted to work on the 9th mission, but I suddenly got extremely tired, forcing me to take a nap. But even after that, I only had strength to play the nintendo DS while lying on my bed. I'm still a bit tired today, let's hope I'll have more strength soon enough...

-Schlagan, you'll see. This may be a bit slimey (and cold).

Progress Reoprt #6:

Game:

-Updated some of the scripts used. Some of these need a DLL file, so some features won't work on the Steam Workshop version. For now, I may have to disable these or stop updating the version. The good thing is, I can now set it to the user's folder.

-Almost finished the options screen. Added on the title screen.

-Thinking of adding a protection mechanism on the stand-alone version (ie the version on Gamejolt) and while I found something like that, it kinda interrupts my launcher's Quick Load. I may have to contact the developer for this. (Note: The protection mechanism is an anti-extract and anti-debug mechanism)

And, after a long run of minor ****ups and minor succeses, I appear again.

I bring un-news. Not really eventful matters.

Ahem.

@Crispy: Good luck with your matters, whichever they may be now.

@Shenlong: You have a skill making sweet looking charas, that's for damn sure. Apart from that, give it a day or two. Bad seasons don't last. It's horrible whenever they happen, though.

@Biggi: They are through and thought because if not, I'm more likely not to actually carry them out. That said, I don't know what else to say. Hope your ISPS doesn't act like an rear end in a top hat if your conectivity issues are persistant, which I hope they aren't.

**** happened. I had to rework my entire plan for september. Not the first time and, as unlikely as it may seem, not the last one either.

1st - Since I have already finished the character chart, I have to find a way to ask for help in here without posting in the wrong subforum or without my thread mysteriously dissapearing. That said, I probably posted on the wrong subforum both times, so I really shouldn't complain. Inb4 some point before the end of September

2nd - Regarding the first part of Nerei/Silas's story, it's mostly done. I need to design the enemies, do a lot of balancing and craft a satisfying boss. Probably will put out some kind of demo project once I finish that. Or maybe not. I'm thinking that I should finish a third story on my project before doing a demo, but I'm not quite sure which story is going to be nor how in the entirety of hell I'm going to structure it. It's bound to come, I know. But if it takes too long to do so, I'll just go on, do a demo, rework what needs to be reworked thus far and then do the next story.

3rd - I have ideas, and my blog is somewhat deadened. Since I'm done with SR:HK I can get back to it relatively soon. What I have doubts about is whose lore I'm going to write next. My best options are the Immaculate Harbinger, the Crying Hero, Tau & Zebaron or the Slithering Blight. Or maybe go on and write the first actual episode of Nitor. I don't know. I have many options and I always have a hard time picking.

@TherianEd: It was the internet of the place I was staying at that was the problem. Now I'm back on my nice, high speed internet *bliss*

@Aceofaces_Mod: I haven't heard of too many protection mechanisms, what program or script did you find?

@Schlangan: Ha! I bet mine are tired of me running through the mountains/city/mall over and over and over as I retest Chapter 4 and start of Chapter 5 now. I can just picture the conversation now:

Phoenix: "How many times are we going to go through these cold mountains and then go to the Christmas Party?"

Cedric: "As many times as we wish, Ms. Grinch."

Sarah: "Who put coal in her stocking?"

@Chiara: Hope you get better soon!

@Marquise: Just think, that would put a new meaning to floor so nice you could eat off of it!

@R4B: Looks like it is still coming along nicely.

9.21 Update: Paper drew up a couple more maps, and fixed a couple little bugs. Nothing too exciting. Hoping to start drawing the maps in the editor on 9.23 or 9.24, tomorrow's my long day at work so not gonna happen tomorrow.

Resting is so boring! ;P Take care anyway. You can play brainyOgames with your dreams! ;)

@Shlangan

Nice wolves! :)

@Actually there was an anecdote about Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz having guests at home, all extravagant actors and Desi had made the special spaghetti sauce from a secret recipe from his family. Except he cooked so much and so long in one pot that at the living room he brandished his pot to make everyone salivate but the bottom broke and it was all over the heavy Persian carpet. One of the guest asked the maid if the vacuum was made on that carpet thoroughly earlier and the maid had pride on her job as to had done it before the arrival and then all actors proceeded with their plate of pastas serving themselves the sauce straight from the ground feasting around! I dunno how much truth there is to that epic anecdote. But not being a maid... I wouldn't get THAT far! still eating head level with a feline is cool! :D

Allright! I got pink paper saying 0 BED BUGS! And I got also a wait 2 weeks before all unpacking then do it slowly cautiously and re-dry clothing all at max temperature get rid of bags in an hermetically sealed bag. It will REALLY be one year those bugs bugged my life and made it suck so hard! And I had to convince Mommy cat it was real no IN/OUT door confinement but... yeah Veterinarian tomorrow!

cat ranting warning

Still it is too creepy not wanting to drink or eat by herself other thing than less than a finger of human canned tuna.
I hope my elderly kitty didn't get a very sad sad thing when I wondered about renal problem the nurse by phone started by "she shouldn't oh... 14 years old!" And I went "15 (insert her BDay ) soon!" and we were ... "yeah :|" I reassure everyone aging ain't a illness... yet! But let say after between 72 and 105 years old human equivalent... it is a bit tricky! Especially for a sport cat!

At least, even not trying to move... I got hint she takes down insects!
And I am pursuing that PBeM RPG elaboration stuff.

Back in business with a fixed up computer. But first, I have to get a commissioned game outline complete before I can go back to the Mechanical Armageddon.

@AceOfAces_Mod : Slimey and cold ? Don't spit on meeeeeee ! okay, I'll see ^^

@TherainED : A demo doesn't have to be long to demonstrate what is in the game. Two stories could be enough.

@bgillisp : Progress is progress, even if it doesn't appear exciting.

@Marquise* : Thank you :) And congrats for no bed bugs !

@TheOriginalFive : Welcome back !

My update :

Not much progress as usual during the week.

- I'm done with the proper battlers of the Ragnarok alliance

- I also fixed the bahviours of the characters during the meeting of the alliance, because now they can sit on chairs :D

- Finally I increased the height of Antoine and Mathias, since they were a bit small compared to the soldiers. I alsos changed Mathias' guard position, which was too stupid before ^^

Tonight I should finish the proper escape system for the 9th mission, consider the matter of changing characters outside of missions (dunno how to do that yet), and working on the new missions.

_________________________________________________

Edit : Wednesday, 8:52 am

Wow I didn't expect to have to edit my own post. Where did everyone go ? x)

Anyways, next update :

- Proper escape system done for 9th mission, as well as the last riddance of the bug allowing monster to attack you even though you're on a cliff and they're not

- Antoine and Mathias now have their proper sitting poses in the base, and are the only ones able to open their respective closets

- And finally I started eventing the 10th mission ! I put the monsters on the two first maps, and set up the battlemaps.

Tonight should be a better advancement for this mission at least. Maybe I can finish that one by the end of the month; in that case the next version would only contain one more mission, but it would be better already.

@Captainproton: Looks good! Is that for your game, or a request?

@Schlangan: I've noticed the game lets monsters attack you through cliffs, and even seen that bug in some commercial games. How did you fix that bug?

@TheOriginalFive: Glad your computer is working again!

@Marquise: Did you do the happy no bed bug dance?

9.22 - 9.23 Update: Spent the last couple days remapping a town, and redoing the battle arena. The arena has been changed to where the first two levels are a breeze if you are your proper level, and starting with level three it gets tough. Also managed to event a roulette game into the game. Currently there is no betting (ran out of time to implement that), but you can spin the wheel over and over and over, and it properly goes to a random spot on the wheel.

Plan is to work on polishing up the towns a little more for the next few days, while I let it stew in my head what I want for the military base, and the next area after it (a frozen town that is long deserted due to it being too cold to live in anymore).

@bgillisp : I've used a variable to set up the "height" of the character. Events on touch change the variable value when the player walk stairs for example. Finally, the monsters have a check condition to only trigger the fight is the variable has a given value. Of course they cannot climb stairs, since the events block other events in RMXP.

Nice work!

@Marquise: Did you do the happy no bed bug dance?
I can't! It is a bitter victory; Mommy cat decided to choose that moment to be or victim of poisoning, or somehow anemic to the point of 12% blood cells. And as I saw finally the bath I realized it clogged itself deep and ... I can feel the strength and hope leaving me now!
@everyone

I'm sorry... I will keep looking upon your progress. But my creative mood, trust and sense of wonder is somehow dried out now. I just get panic attacks cries and prayers now. ...and fight to feed mommy cat that awaited an ordeal to finish to get on a hunger strike!

Sorry... You cannot know to which point I am!
