Hey folks, been currently messing with alternate resources to replace MP, although I'm running into one major hitch - from what I've seen so far, there's no way to set a Class/Actor's MP at the start/end of battle.

So, for example, if I were to have a resource like WoW's "Rage" that starts at 0 and must be built up each battle, the best I can do at the moment is use Yanfly's "Base Troop Events" plugin and deduct a specific Actor's MP on turn 0, which comes with the baggage of both the inability to tie this behavior to a specific Class (which wouldn't be great if characters were able to switch Classes), and lack of fine control (so I'd only be able to reduce to 0 by deducting the entire resource, not start at a set value like 50% or 10)...Not to mention that having the Troop Event trigger at turn 0 leaves an awkward visual of the previous amount of MP being shown before quickly being depleted.

Is there any way to set a Class's (ideal) or Actor's MP before each battle starts, through base MV functions or any sort of Yanfly-compatible plugins?

(If there's no way to do this yet, for anyone trying to do the same - I've found that using Yanfly's Buff & State core has been fairly helpful in terms of allowing you to use stacking states in place of a proper resource...However, this solution is more limited and leaves a bit to be desired visually.)

You could disable MP altogether and use TP as a replacement.

http://yanfly.moe/2016/01/08/yep-55-enhanced-tp/

You don't need to use all of the functionalities of the plugin. You can restrict the player from changing their TP mode and force each class into a specific TP mode. You can change the max TP to anything that you want, even a formula that grows as you level. And then you can do exactly what you requested, set the starting TP for each battle depending on the TP mode that you select for each character.

If this solves your problem and you would like to do away with MP entirely, there are a few ways to do that.

The TP suggestion above should work really well.
But if you wish to use MP specifically, and not use it in the troop events, I suggest setting your MP to 0 before the battle processing event.
That way it starts at 0 immediately at the beginning of a battle, but it does require you to change all your battle events.

I've seen the Enhanced TP plugin floating around here and there, but I hadn't touched it yet due to a few misconceptions I had with it...But it actually seems like it can do all the things I need!

I'll mark this one as solved, thanks for the help guys. :kaophew:
