I've recently picked up MV and I'm having troubles understanding the set route command. Earlier versions of the program you had to set the amount of squares to move. By clicking "Move Left" 12 times, you'll go 12 squares over.

My issue with this is when I click "Move Left" it makes the PC move until told otherwise. Is there a way to command it to move only certain amount of squares or am I stuck trying to figure out a work-a-round?

I've had no such issue with the move routes in MV. Check to make sure you don't have the repeat box checked. If that is not it, then its going to have to be a plug in that is interfering with it, or a bad driver on your comp that is causing odd behavior.

I don't have any plugins. It's bought fresh from the site with updates and everything. Commands read "Move Left" and I have "Wait for Completion" checked and that's all. Player moves left until he hits the other side of the screen. I'm not sure how a driver could be the issue since I keep it updated.

You may need to show us a screenshot of the event page, just so we can see if anything odd is going on.

As for the driver issue, there was an issue on another version of RPGMaker where certain drivers caused you to always move to the left no matter what. So it's possible something similar could happen with MV, hence why I mentioned it.

Its because it's a parallel process. Parallel processes always run, so it is looping the event forever. That is why it is always moving to the left.

Changed it to Autorun but it's still happening. As soon as the last command is finished running, it loops.

I made a new map to try and figure out if it was any other events manipulating it in any way. I threw down the character and route movement set to "Move Right" "Move Up" and it seems to loop over and over even on Autorun

Now, Event touch works just fine. I walked over the area and the PC moved only right and up and stopped.

Nevermind I fixed it. I had another event open trying to control the movements and another controlling the conversations. I merged them into one event and it seems to be running perfect now.

Glad it works. Just remember though that parallel process and autorun events always loop, so if you don't put in something to stop the event, it will do the event over and over and over all day.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
