I will try to ask them in as coherent a way as my tired mind is capable...
For anyone that decides to answer, please be aware that I am not likely to have access to MV for much longer, as it is on my mother's computer and I am not personally able to purchase my own computer, or the full program yet.
These are questions that I would like to have answered before I try to do something that ends up messing up any projects that I may start.

Firstly, I would like to know if there is a way to have characters that are initially part of the player's party spread out throughout the game... Example: The player starts alone, meets Actor 2 after 20-30 minutes of play, Actor three a few minutes to a couple hours later, and so forth.

Secondly, I would like to know if I absolutely have to have a large map with icons for places like caves or villages, or can it all be one sprawl, with caves being openings in the side of mountains. I have not had any real chance to experiment and explore with RPG Maker MV as of yet.

Thirdly, can the things I have listed above still be accomplished in, say VX Ace? My personal computer that I am typing these questions with is incapable of running RPG Maker MV, as it's graphics card is not current enough, and parts are no longer made for this particular computer. It is a Netbook, and i am almost certain it is nearly 10 years old.

I have several other questions, but I am currently tired and unable to remember them...

Thank you to anyone who can provide the answers that I need.

Grab the Ace trial and see if it will run on your Netbook. That'll give you a very definite answer :)

The answer to all 3 is: yes you can.
Alright, can you please explain how?

I would, but my download glitched the first time I attempted it, and support has not gotten back to me with a download link, which is strange since I sent one email on Thursday and one just after I posted my thread, out of confusion. Either way, though, I am losing time that I could be spending testing out VX Ace :( Which is very sad since I was actually excited that something might work on my computer.
The last two or three times I had to contact support, they responded just after midnight and were quite helpful. But by about 12:30, they still hadn't responded...
I guess they don't get it if you chose to just respond to the support email you already had?

For the first question, it's a very basic eventing. Like you can add an event to add party member. It's simple as that.
For the second question, you can just use an event and set the graphic as an icon to represent them.
For the third question, it's possible to all version of RM if that answer most of your questions.

But when I would test-play anything at all using MV, it would automatically have the entire party instead of just the player character... Am I missing something? I thought that that meant it automatically stuck the player with the entire party? Every possible answer I've seen so far is for if someone wants more than 5 party members. What I want is to start with 1 (the player), and add the other 3 from there.
And the map I would want to create is NOT going to have icons. I specifically hate that type of map, where there is an overworld and everything is as tiny as possible... I get that some people would not want to do that, but I am more a fan of Pokemon and LoZ style maps, where everything is connected as one giant sprawl, but still easy to get to. No icons unless you are looking at a literal map.

Forgive me if I am not fully understanding what you say, or if I seem belligerent... I barely slept, and it was midnight when I originally posted this thread. I think I slept maybe 2.5-3 hours total, and my brain usually can't handle that little sleep. Plus, at the moment, I am frustrated with the main site's customer support, since I've been trying to download VX Ace's free trial since Thursday.

I also did not get to mess with the MV trial at all outside of the tutorials, which are very uninformative in the areas I was most curious.

You set the starting party in the database > system tab. You want it to have a full party at the start or only one party member? The choice is yours.

Then you have to explain it better, and I'm not a pokemon player. You said it was an icon, then you said it isn't.
A screenshot or a video would explain better.

As you are not familiar with basic eventing, I suggest you have a look at this playable tutorial. What it does is teach you everything about the Event Command Menu. As that is more or less identical for Ace and MV whatever you learn can be applied to whichever one you end up getting. Spending 3 hours or so on this now will save you a huge amount of time in the future, and means that when you get the download you will be able to use the time more productively.

As for Support, we are now in the weekend, and it could be that you will not get an answer until Monday. However, why not just try re-downloading the demo again? I suspect that is what they will tell you to do anyway.

I'm sorry. I get frustrated easily when I am tired.
My best available example that I can think of at the moment is this: The original Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire map.
Cities and towns are part of the overall map, with buildings and caves branching from the main map, instead of entire towns just being applied as icons and closed off.
This way you can walk in and out of cities without any kind of transition, but things like caves, or going underwater would be a transition into that branched map.

I am unable to do this as it is not in my download history, and my email is already registered to the list for VX Ace. If I attempt a download, it goes straight to a while screen telling me my email is already registered to the list.

@JaeJaeCee I've merged your douple posts (=posting right after yourself) together. If you want to quote more than one post, please use the Multiquote/+Quote button on all those posts you want reply to and insert them down below.

I still don't completely understand your explanation, but it's definitely possible to make worldmaps like Pokémon. You just need to change the tile settings, so "your character" can't walk on anything but the paths.

alright. Thank you.

I remembered one of my other questions, finally.
Do you, or anyone else, know how to edit a character to be able to switch between human and animal? I have two characters that I wrote as were-creatures, one is a werewolf and the other is a werecat...

Yes, in the event commands there is a command that can change the actor graphic.

These are all basic questions. Please consider Kes’s suggestion to play through the tutorial game linked, then come back with remaining questions.

You mean to say you don't want players to move around using an overworld map (with icons for cities/caves etc.), you want people to explore continuously like a Pokemon game, going from map to map to reach a town.

Which is totally possible, you know. It's just a simple preference people have. After all, transferring from map to map is a simple event command, and one of the basic functions of RPG Maker.

I do not currently have access to RPG Maker MV. it is on my mother's computer, 10 blocks away... She gets very picky and annoyed if i even ask, as she wants me to be over there to help her whenever I walk over, and she only downloaded the trial to humor me. We don't have enough money to buy the full version at the moment.
Thank you for the help so far, though.
I may have further questions, and I am sorry that they are all so basic... To me, they are all a mystery, because I have literally only 3 hours of experience, after following the tutorials that RPG Maker MV gave me while I was using my mother's computer. I haven't had the chance to play around with settings, or test anything, and I do not fully understand much about game making at the moment. I hope to come to understand it better if I get to actually work with it, however.

I understand that you don’t have much experience and there is nothing wrong with it, we’ve all been there. We are just saying that asking every question here is not the best way to learn.

The link Kes gave you does not require MV. It is a downloadable game made in Ace, which will help answer many of the questions you have.

Yeah, I understand that now. I'm sorry.
My computer is acting like a deaf child at the moment and windows explorer completely crashed when i tried to unzip the file you guys suggested. I'm worried that this will be an ongoing problem, as it used to do that and completely restart my computer every time i tried to copy and paste a word document between locations- i may not even be able to play the tutorial game! O^O,
edit 1
nope. it crashes and restarts as soon as i try to extract it.
edit 2
An VX Ace won't even attempt to open because it errors and says that my resolution isn't good enough...
edit 3
I'm sorry. I didn't sleep well, and I am an emotional autistic. I need to find a way to fix this before my computer frustrates me enough that i throw it into a wall.
edit 4
I apologize for having forced all of you, complete strangers, to have to participate in my bad day. I did not sleep well last night, after going to bed late. I have so little experience with downloading things to this computer that I'm amazed it runs so well... or that I haven't inundated it with trash and fluff. I am tired, and become both emotional and belligerant when something goes wrong. I'm so sorry...

In this case you should check the technical data for your computer - the resolution for the editors (and MV needs a larger resolution than VXA) is an absolute requirement for using those programs.
If it's your current resolution that gives the problem and it is not the maximum resolution your display is able to handle, then you need to switch windows to the required resolution as minimum.
If you only have a small display (for example because you have only a small laptop) then you simply can't use the programs at all and should not buy them until you have a better monitor available.

Thank you. I knew for a while that my own computer would not work in this case, but I was a bit too stubborn.
My grandfather has thankfully managed to get VX Ace working on his computer, and I think he downloaded the game mentioned somewhere above, as well, so I might play that sometime tomorrow.
My current question may sound a bit simplistic, but do you, or anyone else reading, know how to pop in a quick Sound Effect event?
I want to have a scream play, since I want to place a werewolf character deeper in the dungeon that I am working on.
I want to use the scream as a minor introduction to the character. The player won't see her, but will encounter her soon after.

Sadly, I seem to be able to mess ANYTHING up, though. It won’t play if i playtest the game. I tried for about 15 minutes to get it to play last night.
