Edit: Took a moment to realise that with these new additions I have finally hit my goal of 50 unique designs (still got to animate them ), but it's not over, there are still load more designs waiting to be drawn into the world!
Polls are closed, first the new style for overworld characters is 50/50.
As it was a mixed response, for the time being I will only produce (and release) more based on what I need for my own project (assuming I find time to work on it between releases ).
For the main poll of the hour, the winning results are:
At top, vicious beasts followed by Air based and Demonic. In addition Angelic has surprisingly managed to dart past the line of average during the last moments.
So designs of the near future will focus on ferocious and deadly beasts along with airborne creatures (vicious birds anyone?) and to finish it ho about the theme of angels vs demons!
The static scorpion lunch box has been upgraded, free sidedish of animated claws and stingers with every purchase!
Scorpion
Pointy, stabby claws and oversized stinger, the epitome of RPG scorpion anatomy!
Dune Stalker
Spoiler
Death Stalker
Having been sneezed out of one too many ogre noses the snot ball union has come together (literally) to strike back at all who have abused them! Actually they couldn't care less about petty revenge, and instead have taken up jobs as guides, escorts and safekeepers of legendary treasures...
Guiding Blob
Be it light, directions, legendary weaponry, these slimy balls of goo are known for leading travelers off the beaten path, then back on again after the party!
@Rogue Milk It is something I have considered but I'm not overly skilled at traditional spriting methods.
I may in future create a monster or two in the new style I recently held a poll for as a trial.
The wild beast looks amazing as well as the others I haven't commented on for a while. You've been continuing to produce some great pieces of work here.
For any interested inspiredtangle has updated her blog with the original sketches for the Phoenix and Sphinx battlers as well as a few others I may be creating in the future.
@Solis Nearly everything I know is self-taught through experimentation and good old practice (don't forget the occasional googles).
I've been using Photoshop 'off and on' for over 6 years now. Animation however, its note even been a full year yet.
The Knight and Hawk Knight battlers were actually my first real attempt at animation (so many noobish mistakes that makes variations hard to create).
I would say to best starting point is to learn the basics of your software as best as you can (using tutorials).
Also random sketching helps. I literally take a pencil and pocket-sized sketchbook (A6) with me everywhere I go so I can doodle whatever comes to mind.
I have actually been considering creating 'tip-sheets' with step by step tutorials and guides on how I make my battlers.
