Hello everyone! I am very new to the RPG Maker community, so hopefully I placed this in the right thread!

I'm a huge fan of horror, mystery, drama, comedy, visual novel, & puzzle style games, and wondered if anyone had any games in these styles they'd like to share! I've only really played the classics (i.e., The Witches House, one of my favs!! & the recent Your Turn to Die, which is amazing!) but I haven't dived deep into the independent community of these games. I'd really love to see what people who are fans of similar styles have made!

With you developers sharing your projects, or projects you think are cool, I'd love to know what games or stories inspire you to create! What are your inspirations or what made you want to share a certain game with me (or anyone!). I'd just love to see what this community is all about!

Some favorites/inspirations of mine [both RPG Maker & not]:

The Witches House
The Crooked Man
Resident Evil
Your Turn to Die
Silent Hill
Steins;Gate [obvi, with the username, right?]
Robotics;Notes
Chaos;Child
Danganronpa
Higurashi
Corpse Party
Fran Bow

Anything in these kind of styles you'd like to throw my way, feel free! Or again, if you just want to advertise yourself to me, that is welcome! Sorry if I repeat myself a lot; I'm a bit awkward & not too familiar with using forums and such! Thanks for reading! Have a wonderful night!

This was our joint project for IGCM 2017 entry.

We weren't into the horror genre, but at least we tried.
This was inspired by SCP.

Edit:
Adding the video (Note that the windowskin had been changed)

You're in good company here then. Most of us are at least a little bit awkward if not full on weird (like myself).

No game to throw your way tho I did restart (for the 4th time lol) work on M.
A murder mystery , noir type game that won't be done for a looooong while yet - but it never hurts to advertise xD

Welcome! I, too, like comedy (almost all my games have it!), visual novels, and Higurashi, and I am awkward.:kaohi:

My other favourites/inspirations include the Fire Emblem series, Library of Ruina, and a few good ol' mythology stories.

As for my own projects, last year for IGMC I made Gacha Hell, a parody of the gacha gaming genre. The gameplay loop was inspired by the numerous crappy gacha games inundating the mobile market, while the inspiration for the the story was from Dante's Divine Comedy, as well as a couple of anecdotes of gacha players (yes, me too. I'm not proud).

Also made a couple of visual novels but in a different engine so I'm not allowed to advertise here :(

Hello elpsykongroo and welcome! ^_^ <3 I also love the horror genre alongside JRPG's! So I can relate indeed! :D <3

I can also share some horror games I've made with RPG Maker MZ for game jams! <3

Inner Sanctum (Christian-themed horror):

Perceiving Shapes (Cosmic horror genre):

My inspiration for making horror games? Here are some honorable mentions:
- Deadspace series
- Clocktower series
- Evil Within 1 & 2
- Anastasia (This was an RM2k3 horror game that I remembered playing in the long past, but disappeared from the internet forever, sadly.)

Hey, this was super neat! You were right, very SCP, I really dug picking up the little H Pads to get more info on the creatures/different logs from crew members! I used to be real into SCP so this was a fun blast of nostalgia!

I gave Gacha Hell a try, & it was very interesting! I can see the parody aspect in full with it's style. I never really tried a Gacha game really, but I've had friends who've fallen down the rabbit hole, so maybe I'll show them this & see what they think!

& it's nice to meet a fellow Higurashi fan! I'm in the midst of watching SOTSU after going through the whole series (2006 is still my favorite so far).

Ohhh, very cool!! I watched a friend play Persona 5 once, but I've never played Persona 4. Although, I heard that it was a murder mystery, which is very up my alley! Feel free to post when you have a demo/are done with it, I'd love to check it out! Mind if I ask the title?

Ok. I am seriously going to make efforts to stop double-posting because I got suspended for two days because of doing it too much. Lmao; am I the only one who got a suspension for this? Probably not, but I'd still like to know LOL.
I always hated when the an NPC disappears for the night they just blink out. Finally got around to making a fade out/in for any NPCs that leave/comeback for the night or day.
