What defines old? How it feels. Maybe you made it yesterday and you're already groaning at the sight of it.
Incomplete, unencrypted games are welcome! If all ya have is screenshots, post that too.
I'll start.
Managed to get into my old scratch account. View at your own risk. Was just tryin to figure it all out. Here!
My first itch game. Actually quite proud of this one, given it was made on the trial version. Green here!
Okay, I have no idea how I found these ones. Gamefroot is actually a decent web-based program, it just has a few unfortunate flaws. Horders!
Lastly, what I call a lawsuit waiting to happen, RPG Maker playground game! Very incomplete, but the idea was there. Sornos
Anyhow, this was a great walk down memory lane for me. Do not feel pressured to play any at all, I'm just throwin em out there.

I'm the same way, I found a bunch of floppies of games I made when I was 10-11 the other day. Proper lovely looking at all those hand-felt-tipped labels

When I was younger, one of my favorite aspects of some of the games I played was the packaged level editor. It's not quite making a game, but...I guess more akin to building a DLC - you know...a mod.
I already talked about my history with TES: Oblivion and the mods I made for it with a link your previous thread similar to this one.
I also did a lot of custom parks in the Tony Hawk games. Custom campaigns in Heroes of Might and Magic 3 and 4. Puzzle levels in Alien Hominid, and way, way too much time in Halo 3 Forge Mode. I'm sure there are countless others I am forgetting, but those are the ones I remember spending a lot of time in during my youth.
As for actual games..well...
My little test run of RM still exists. I still actually like this game, but..well...it's definitely a game only I can enjoy, hahaha. I give it the rare update whenever something gets reported.
There was another "game" before this one in RM, but I mean it was literally just to learn the interface of the engine and I think it takes about 10 minutes to complete and looks ugly. It was not intended for public release, and I am not sure if I even have it any more.

I came across an old VX project of mine, where you get to fight screenplays as an up-and-coming actress. Dialogue is cringe. But the idea is kind of fun.

Anyway, felt cute, might delete later.

I didn't get into game making until I stumbled upon Ace, and my first game was a mess that I entered into the first igmc. It's probably still floating around somewhere, but I don't have a clue where... Probably for the best, I'm sure I'd feel the urge to remake it into something better if I did find it.

I do actually though have somewhere the games I made when I was 14 - 16. They are unlimited adventure modules though so you need Unlimited Adventures to run it. And fair warning, balance? What balance?

Yeah I had the bright idea to give goblins level 1 lightning bolt so when you encounter a horde of them: Zap zap! And later I gave someone level 1 fireball.

Death by 1000 paper cuts.

I may not be a great developer, my reviews might leave a lot to be desired, but if there is one thing I pride myself on, it's most definitely keeping a calm and professional manner to communicating with folks when it involves anything that is my business; either my game or my streams. There's been a swath of devs and/or fans of devs responding quite angerly to my reviews and (whenever I feel their comments warrants a response) I always responded respectfully and professionally. It does wonders at diffusing situations. Take note how the fellow who started their comment angerly, followed up their comment quite calmly.

Anyway, felt cute, might delete later.

I honestly haven't played around with XP much at all. I bought it just to have access to it's RTP, so I don't know if those menus are default or not, but I really like those menus. Giving me some classic ps1/ps2 era JRPG nostalgia vibes. I wish utilitarian UI design would come back into fashion again. The "ugly with a dash of make-up" functional UI. Like Steam's old army green. I miss it. Sorry that was an off topic mini-rant.

Imma use my internet sleuthing skills and find it and then stream it and broadcast to the world: Can you BELIEVE one of our mods made THIS!?! shocked emoji, shocked emoji, shocked emoji. Then I'll make you feel bad for being naive of the engine and new to game design

Seriously, like with my own bad game I linked above, I can see the "passion" even if the execution is not quite there. One thing I think is interesting about people's first is seeing if I can identify that passion (of course it's there - anyone who's seen a game through to completion is passionate, it's just whether that passion is visible enough to me.)

First real game was that PONG like Final Fantasy monstrosity made with Game Maker. Nowhere to be found of course.

First project finished with RPG Maker was this one:



It was made in only 1 day, I took 2 days off from work and spent almost 18 hours non-stop just to make it. I was insane back then.
It was a huge amount of conditional branches and choices, made for a contest in 2017 here. Available for download only through pm, it's extremely old and the game thread is gone. I plan to expand it into something much bigger one day, called "Al Dente" Cooking Adventures.
