This is the best time to troubleshoot anything~ switch out your mouse and keyboard with someone elses and see if it fixes that. I can't think of anything going wrong especially with a fresh install of windows 8.

edit: did you also install whatever came with your mouse and keyboard? that may have been the culprit. You should let windows 8 install its own firmware for those two and see if it works.

He already tested different keyboards a while ago.

Can we please get a screenshot of the compatibility settings for Ace? That is probably the only place where we have a chance of fixing it - if it isn't a wrong compatibility setting, then it would be a conflict with one of the basic drivers, and that's almost impossible to fix.

He just reinstalled Windows 8 after reformatting his hard drives, so it's the best time to redo things he's done in the past. It's clearly not something he's installed himself, so if its not the firmware that came with his keyboard and/or mouse then its the drivers that windows 8 used for his computer.

edit: what brand and model are your keyboard and mouse?

AHHH! Okay. So, I actually fixed it now.

When Andar asked for screenshots of compatability settings, I went in and saw that there was none. I thought "What the hell, might as well try it," and lo and behold--this actually fixed it!

I think it was the high DPI setting. Not that I know what that means. Thanks to everyone! Hope this helps someone in the future. :)

  • I'm using Windows 8 (I knew it was a bad idea, but it's too late now!), so I'm thinking that it might be a compatibility issue, but when I run the troubleshooter, it still occurs.
- windows design settings incompatible, try XP basic (may happen if the windows is newer than the program and the compatibility mode is set incorrectly, always manually set for compatibility, windows autocompatibility/troubleshooter has its quirks)
It could have been solved so much earlier - the quotes above were where I pointed out that the automated troubleshooter doesn't always find the correct compatibility settings...

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
