I am having the hugest headache with this.

I have a map, with BGM, and a boat at a port. I get on the boat and the boat music plays. I then transfer to a new map, which has no music, and then I transfer to another map which does. The moment I get off the boat the music FROM THE VERY FIRST MAP plays.

Why is this a thing? How the heck do I fix this???

When you get on a vehicle, the current map BGM is saved, and when you get off, it is restored (it continues playing from the same point where it stopped, rather than starting over again).  I believe it's probably expected that you're not going to transfer between maps in a vehicle.

I'll do some testing, and see what happened in Ace when you followed the same steps.

How did you transfer to a new map?  I thought events are ignored when you're in a vehicle - or is that only the airship?

The cause is known and frankly it seems very silly to have that.

Ace apparently had the same issue and the only fix I saw was a scripting one and even though I tried to do the same thing as a plugin nothing worked.

Transfering is by simple event either touch or activate as if you were on foot as well.

Are you seeing the BGM change the moment you go onto the new map (the one with BGM, not the one without)?  

So it starts with the map 1 music, then plays the boat music; when you go to the map without a BGM specified, the boat music continues to play; when you go to the third map, its music begins to play while you're still in the boat, and then when you get off the boat the original map's BGM plays?

I'll log it as a bug, while they're in the process of fixing them, and we'll see if we can get it taken care of.

Alright, I've located where this is happening in the scripts, and have logged a bug report for it to be fixed.  Will let you know how it goes :)
