"Show Picture" and "Show Text" aren't showing up at the same time?

Hey y'all,

I'm trying to make a cut scene more or less with text above it. I tried following this tutorial but I'm assuming mine isn't working because it's not an intro. Mine starts a little mid game and basically she finds something that triggers an event that leads to the cut scene. I have tried it so many different ways now but the number one problem I am running into is that my text and my images are not playing at the same time, or while the image is the background more or less.

I am completely new to RPG maker, only working on it for about a month and a half, and I tried playing around with switches and variables but none of the tutorials I found online were intuitive enough for me to follow. I'm not 100% sure where to go from from here.

Tested this out myself and the issue may be your fadeout and fadein commands. Pictures don't show when the screen is faded out.

It's got nothing to do with it being an intro or not - the game has no idea and doesn't care how far through it is when the cutscene is played.

You are showing the picture and text while the screen is faded out. In the video, the screen fades back in first, and THEN the text is shown. Put your Show Text AFTER the fadein.

You'll also need to erase your picture, unless you want it to appear on the next map. Pictures don't get removed when you change maps.

It's still not showing the image and the text at the same time even after the change. Now it just cuts to that black screen with her and no text, then I click enter and it moves forward like it's supposed too.

Hmmm, Is your event on the correct trigger - autorun?

And the image shows up like how its supposed too, does the 40 frame wait, then the text "shows up" I don't actually see it, I have before, in other ways that I've tried it but the same issue arises, where the text shows up after the image instead of at the same time of the image.

the text will always show up after the image. because you have a wait command between them.
if you have no commands between show picture and show text they should appear at the same time.

I changed it and it just puts the text in front of the img now this time. I have the window on so you can really see it but it does the same thing afterwards. I got rid of the fade in/out too just to see if that was the issue and it still does that.

What exactly IS the picture? If the text is in front of the image, showing at the same time, isn't that exactly what you want?

this is the cut scene that needs the text on top of it, and its showing it before or after the image, never simultaneously. Doesn't matter if I have the window, usually I have the color changed to white but it just doesn't show up at simultaneously.

I thought maybe it'd be my message style plugin but that's not it. Its weirdly enough right now showing the text before the image even though in the code it's the other way around. (I have above characters on right now because I was playing around trying to find out what it was.)

Just to see what might be wrong, try some ridiculously long wait. Wait 60 is only one second after all. Put like, Wait 600 and see if the image lingers before the remove command comes to effect.

It does. It waits those whole 10 seconds and then goes to where it's supposed to go.

I made a quick very rudimentary test and your code worked on me. So looking elsewhere, are you sure you actually have the image file in right place, and it's in right format?

I think it is? I mean it shows up in the actual game. The only one tbh that is a little iffy on how it shows up is the text but I wouldn't know where to start with that.

I tried this and this puts the picture on screen and messge on top of it. Would it not work on you?

If I have it like that, without the wait the image doesn't even show up. It's just the text, then it goes to the scene it's supposed too.

then your problem is not in the event, but the engine of your project is somehow broken.

make the following test:
create a new project, in the very first map place an event that has only the two commands for show picture and show text.
does that work?
if yes, something in your project is broken - if not something in your editor or defaults is broken.

EDIT:
and what format and how big (in KB/MB ) is that picture?
It might be loadtime that delays...
